Disclaimer: JK Rowling owns Harry Potter. I own nothing except a pile of debt and a pencil.

Scene: Voldemort's death came with a price; Harry and Hermione lay dying before they had a chance to marry and begin their new lives. As they draw their last breath, Harry reflects on his love for Hermione.

ETERNAL SLEEP

We both lay dying
Our bodies are cold
We never thought we'd die young
And now we'll never grow old

We've been through a lot
Fighting Dementors and Death Eaters
Surviving adventures and Rita Skeeter
At last we have the peace we've sought

My eyes are heavy with death
But I want to gaze upon you once more
Your beauty still takes away my breath
You were the only person I lived for

Your love kept me alive this long
Without you, I would've already died
And been long gone
But you made my life worthwhile
Whenever I gazed upon your smile

I can barely breathe
I can barely see
There's nothing much left to say
Except I'm glad you're right here with me

My dearest Hermione, I will die content
And with peace
If we could hold hands once more
As we prepare for this eternal sleep
