One Less Thing

Mabel's POV:

It was a little after midnight when I did it. The cold wind blew across the field, as I hovered over that black hole. I gripped the item in my hands as I closed my eyes, and remembered everything that happened earlier. The room filled with graphs and charts, the game coming to life, my brother and great-uncle almost getting their brains eaten, everything. It was such an annoying, and exhausting day; not even the series finale of Ducktective was that interesting. Stupidest ending to a season, that ever was.

I glanced down to the box in my hands. This box held the board game that both Dipper and Ford were obsessed with. This box was one of the things, they had in common, besides both linked to the supernatural, and the mysteries all around them. They were both smart, both determined, both use to one another's company. Dipper was spending a lot of time with our long lost great uncle, and I was glad happy that he was getting along with him. However, I was familiar with spending time with Dipper, almost every day.

This game junk totally brainwashed his mind. The few days they've been playing the game, he rarely spent any time with me. His attitude towards me, the other night, was kind of cold. So I make fun of him sometimes, big whoop! I do that a lot to him; very little does he mind. One of these days, I just have that feeling that Dipper and I will drift apart, and we'll grow to hate each other, like Stan and Ford do. That wave of worry was just more determination to throw it down that hole.

I stared at the hole; the hole I fell down in. The hole that vanished things for the better; you never have to see them again. If they appear again, Gompers the goat can just eat it. He once ate an entire miniature Mystery Shack flag, and Stan didn't even notice it was gone. Though, if this hole can make any object disappear, I was sure that it could get rid of this. I lifted up my arms, with the box in my grasp, and I was just about to throw it down there, never to be seen again.

But something nagged at me. If I did this, this will break Dipper's heart. He loves this game, and he searched high and low to find it. Like what he told me, it's his favorite fantasy-talking, level-counting, statistics and graph paper-involving game, of all time! Wow, I can't believe I remembered all that. Dipper would obviously figure out that it was missing. Knowing him, he might turn into Sherlock Holmes, retrace his steps, and pull in suspects until someone cracks. However, throwing it down the hole just seemed like the right thing to do.

Without giving my actions another thought, I lifted up my arms like before, and I threw it down the bottomless pit. The box swayed down the hole with ease, as darkness consumed the game, letting the last bits of moonlight display upon it.

It was done.

It was complete.

I felt relieved.

Whatever the outcome may be, I'm just happy that it's out of my hair. No more graphs covering the room. No more endless nights of playing the game. Something would finally turn back to normal. Dipper and Ford would still have the supernatural and mysteries to do together, since it feels like I've been replaced.

But the good outcome with this whole situation, would be that this is one less thing to worry about.

Hope you enjoyed One Less Thing. I think it was well for my first short one-shot. (At least I think it's my first short one.) XD

One or two more one-shots will be published hopefully before the end of the weekend. Will see how time permits for me.

R&R.
