AN: Got the idea when I realized I'll be going to Black Friday tomorrow with my friends. :P
When: During Harper's pregnancy. The day before Thanksgiving.
Harper slowly walked down the spiral staircase in her bathrobe making her way to the kitchen to look for food. Maybe she could bake croissants if she can find the can. She heard the rustling of papers and turned her head to the living room to find Alex kneeled on the floor cutting out newspaper and magazine clippings and pinning them to a huge billboard (Which she stole from Justin) titled "Operation: Black Friday".
Oh yes, Black Friday how could she have forgotten?
Black Friday was a ritual for Harper and Alex every Thanksgiving break, it had been a ritual since the sixth grade, and was an even bigger deal than The Crazy Ten Minute Sale (Which was strange seeing as that it was far more hectic).
"Hey Alex." Harper said as she felt her kicking baby.
"Oh hi Harper can't talk. Too busy planning Operation: Black Friday!" Alex said in rushed tones as she sprawled a map of the Best Buy, and was calculating prices as she poured money out of the nest egg.
"Oh yeah about that..." Harper grimaced.
"Wait what?" Alex said as she stopped production.
"You know... in my state... I am unsure it's in my best interest... if I don't... get trampled." Harper was trying to explain the best she could.
"Wait you mean... You're not going?" Alex's teeth began to clench. It looked as though her teeth were about to crack.
"Yeah." Harper nodded.
"HARPER! HAVE YOU COMPLETELY LOST THE TRUE MEANING OF THANKSGIVING?" Alex threw all of the papers into the air in frustration.
"Oh come on Alex, you'll have a great time without me. What about... your parents?" Harper tried to make better of the situation.
"Oh please, they're so old they'll be asleep when we're waiting in line." Alex snorted.
"Justin?" Harper suggested.
"He'll wimp out and cry when we're in the stampede." Alex scoffed. "Wait... this could be funny. I'll make a mental note to take him." Alex thought.
"Max?" Harper suggested again.
Alex's eyes widened. Of course. Max's interest in foul, vile, disgusting stuff was often an advantage when in huge crowds. At the Disney World last year, Max got Harper and Alex on Space Mountain in no time flat just because he showed everyone else in line his "Mini Fungi Dairy Farm" he had been growing since he was eleven.
"I will!" Alex stood triumphantly.
*~(Friday 1:00 am)~*
"Honey, I'm home!" Alex walked through the door with an arm full of bags. Max and Justin followed behind her. Max was carrying his moldy cheese in a jar (Which he named Angus), and Justin, who's white shirt was covered in dirt from people's shoes, simply went up stairs to take a bath. His eyes had a hint of fear in them.
"Dude, Max was a life saver, he cleared out the electronics section in three seconds." Alex chuckled. "Thanks to everyone's share of the money, and Max, I got all the christmas shopping done!" Alex smiled, and went to go get a bowl of ice cream to celebrate.
"Great!" Harper smiled. "But why did you take Justin?" Harper asked.
"To see him get trampled." Alex tried to suppress her voice.
Harper gave her a stern look. But this was quickly broken by Max.
"Gee, I hope Santa will be able to visit our house..." Max thought out loud.
AN: "Dumbass Thanksgiving is over."
Procrastination is wonderful isn't it?
Well this is a first amongst the many short stories for Jarper.
Will update if any ideas come to mind. :P
