Overshadowed

Astoria Greengrass was unsatisfied with her life.

She was ordinary.
She was another face in the crowd.

Just another Slytherin.
Just another Pureblood.
Just another Greengrass.

She was quiet; Many even forgot she existed.

How could they remember, when she had Daphne, overshadowing her with her beauty?
Her mother, being exceedingly clever?

She was no one compared to them.

Boys didn't look twice at her.
She was just another brunette next to her sister.

Teachers didn't remember her.
She had no extraordinary intelligence.

She didn't do anything exceptionally well.
She loved writing, but she was no good at it.

She loved reading, but what good was that?

She loved Potions, but there were so many that were better than her, too many.

Astoria Greengrass wanted to be anything but ordinary.
But, she was exactly that.

It's a dream understood by most, to be someone different, to be remembered.
But Draco Malfoy, did not want to be remembered.

He wanted to be another face in the crowd.
He wanted to be able to walk down the street without turning heads.
He wanted to be ordinary.
He wanted to be forgotten.

He hated who he was.
He hated who people thought he was.
He hated the reputation he had.
He even thought he would've been better off in Azkaban.

So when the two opposites met, neither could fathom the other's needs.

One wanted to remembered.
One wanted to be forgotten.

They talked, and talked.
Soon, they understood each other.

Draco Malfoy had the type of attention that made Astoria realize that being remembered wasn't always good.
Astoria Greengrass was a nobody and Draco knew he preferred being acknowledged over being ignored.

Together they fit.

People started to realize who Astoria was.
People started to see Draco moving on, so they did, too.

Draco liked Astoria just the way she was.
He didn't care that she wasn't the best looking out there.
He didn't care that she didn't have extreme intelligence.
She was exactly who he wanted to be.

Astoria liked Draco the way he was.
He was different, he was new.
He was surprises.
He was everything she wasn't.

Together they were balanced.
