"I don't want to hear about your wife or your daughter Lieutenant Colonel," Falman said not even looking up from the paper he was reading.
"I thought you like hearing my voice?" Maes replied grinning slightly.
"I'm trying to work Sir," Falman said while gritting his teeth.
"Well I did noticed Warrant Officer," Maes replied sounded slightly amused.
Warrant Officer Vato Falman resisted the urge to throw down the paper he was reading and screaming on the top of his lungs. It wouldn't be very professional after all. No matter how much Lieutenant Colonel drove him insane he had to keep calm. He had a deadline to meet. No use letting the Lieutenant Colonel gets under his skin.
When Maes lifted himself onto the desk, Vato ignored him. After all deadlines were important. He didn't need to get stressed over those. Deadlines. His one weakness. The only thing that could cause him stress.
Falman eyebrow twitched as he felt someone staring at him. There was only one other person in the room besides him…Falman looked at Hughes.
"Yes?" He asked tersely.
Maes just smiled that little annoying smile of his. Of course he hadn't always thought that smile as annoying. However that was in the past. It had been so long ago. A time before Elysia. Heck a time even before Hughes knew Gracia existed. A time where Hughes prefences had been different.
Vato turned to the paper he was trying to work on. He shouldn't dwell on the past. Dwelling on the past never got him anywhere. It was an awful habit he had. A habit he would break one of these days. Like reading papers upside down. Which he was doing. Vato groaned and flipped the paper so it was right side up.
He ignored Hughes chuckling. How long did the man realize he wasn't actually writing? Knowing the Lieutenant Colonel probably quite some time. Hughes likes being on secrets. Probably some complex he had. It seemed everyone had them these days. His was stressitics – stressing over deadlines for paperwork.
Vato looked up to see Hughes with a camera in his hand. Attempting to look innocent. He however wasn't doing a very good job at it.
"Sir, what are you planning to do with that camera?"
"What makes you think I was planning anything Vato?"
Falman twitched. "The fact that you and cameras don't mix? It's Warrant Officer Falman to you."
"I'm your superior officer I get to call you what I want," Hughes said grinning.
"You do not. If you do that I'll file sexual harassment against you," Falman argued.
"You wouldn't do that," Hughes said with confidence.
Falman raised an eyebrow at the Lieutenant Colonel. "You wanna bet?"
Hughes blanched at the implications. "That will be a stain on my record, I'll probably never get another promotion," Hughes said horrified.
"I imagine so Lieutenant Colonel. Why don't you go before I have to file charges," Falman replied evenly.
Hughes laughed. "I'm not afraid of the charges."
"I'll tell your wife," Falman replied.
"I'm going," Hughes mumbled slipping off the desk.
Warrant Officer Vato Falman grinned after his superior officer left. Now he could work on the paperwork in peace.
