"Why!"
Dom steps into the room, his smooth, fluid movements died out, he became a statue - expression and all.
Her usual Yamani-faced, composed self was torn by rage, fear, and ultimate sadness.
Dom's voice scrapes out in a moan that sounded like "uhn."
The next moan came up, only to turn into a lump in his throat, tears spilling over.
"Word travels fast, huh?" Dom asks. He breaks free of the stone encasement to soothe Kel. Her parents died that day, at sea.
"Both of them! Why? The two people who supported me from the very beginning of my quest for knighthood."
"I'm so sorry, Kel. You know that I know what it feels like to lose someone you love."
Kel's hazel eyes, startlingly bright, looked, no bore, into him, long and hard. Suddenly, she softens and whispers "You know what, Dom?" she sniffles, accepts a handkerchief, and continues. "You've always been like a brother to me, I can always count on you to help me out."
Kel cries and cries, and after what seems like eternity, Kel shudders and falls asleep.
But Dom never answered her, the tears kept flowing down, for the relationship he thought they would have.
Dom hugs her closer, tighter, longer - for what they both lost.
