Shinn shot up right in his bed, drenched in a dirty sweat. It happened yet again. The vision of him killing Athrun and Meyrin hadn't left him. How many weeks had it been since they were consumed by fire? Not enough. He still remembered vividly how he skewered the GOUF through it cockpit. He was filled up with rage... All fanned by Rey's words. Why had he listened to him? None of it made sense... Athrun was a patriot. He would never betray the PLANTs. And Meyrin... He knew her since their academy days. There was no way a shy, quiet girl like Meyrin would consider an action like treason.

Rey's soft voice wafted across the cool cabin. "Same nightmare again?" He was sitting in front of his laptop at the workstation by the door. The only light in the room was the dim light from Rey's laptop. His long golden blonde hair glinted softly in the dimness. As usual, Rey was unreadable. He turned back to his laptop and went back to work.

"You should really stop guilting yourself..." Rey said quietly. "They were traitors. If you hadn't struck while you did they would've gotten away... Gil's dream. No, our dream would be ruined. You're a hero, Shinn... Our champion. Never forget that..."

"Thanks, Rey..." Shinn said sleepily. He turned over and close his eyes tight. Rey's words would normally lull him back into sleep by now. It was now Shinn recognized all the comfort his friend offered him were simply empty words.

Tomorrow... Shinn would be determined to find his own path. His own Destiny.
