A soulmate, others think, is just a single-minded concept girls invented in order to supply their lack of faith in destiny or of their unluckiness in finding the right partner.
"Hey Aomine, that guy came. You know, your guy."
"Mine? Who? My dad?"
"No, you idiot. It's Kuroko."
Oh.
Soulmate, Kuroko thinks, is the person whom you hate the most, you're rival and arch-enemy, the one who makes you frown every single time you see their face, to the point that you can't even stop thinking about them.
He thinks it is bitter-sweet.
I think he's a fool.
"Kuroko!"
"Don't—!"
"Huh?"
"Don't come near me! I came here just to say that from now on, I'm setting up a 'get-three-meters-away-from-me' rule."
"What's with that? How can I hug you then?"
His ears became red.
"No! Don't you remember? There was this accident when you suddenly kissed me in the corridor and after that, I would always think of it whenever I passed by that corridor. What if someone saw us? Please don't leave memories in MY school."
"You know what, Kuroko? What we are experiencing at this moment is, without a doubt, Love. One that's of the purest kind, too. In fact, it's so pure that the others have completely lost their will to make fun of us."
He shouted again and even though he knew he was being teased, Kuroko still couldn't help from complaining.
I bet he's thinking "Ah, I am all annoyed now. BUT. I am most annoyed at the fact that I got annoyed!"
Kuroko is a simpleton. He is an open book for me to read.
"But Kuroko, that is still not fair. We're not classmate anymore and I get immaturely jealous of anyone who gets to see you on a daily basis. I miss you really easily!"
"Then hold hands…"
"Ha?"
"Just holding hands okay? I'm calling off the rule!"
I grinned.
Now that I've thought about it, I think Kuroko was really wrong about his concept of soul mates because in reality, those were the very few important people that can make us feel better just by holding our hands.
