As she closed her eyes, Sam patted her head softly and stood up from her bed. Flipping on the night light in the corner of her room and shutting her closet door, he exited the room. Glancing back, before shutting the door, he smiled, but left a little crack of light on her.
"Sam?"
He turned his head to the side and smiled at his wife. Pulling her into a hug, they walked towards their bedroom with only one glance back at their daughters room.
Sam smiled as he watched his daughter, a teen, prance around the house getting ready for her outing with her friends. He was happy that she would never have to enter the world of the supernatural. Dean and him decided that they would only tell their wives, or in Dean's case, Cas. He couldn't believe that the angel actually had emotions.
"Jessica, are you ready?" Sam heard his wife holler from the front door.
"I'm coming, Mom!" Jessica whined before grabbing her purse and scampering to the front door.
Right before the front door slammed shut, he heard it. "Bye daddy!"
When his wife arrived back later, she complained about their daughter growing up and not wanting her friends to meet her. "Come on Jenny, you know she loves you."
His wife laughed and kissed his cheek, "Are we still having Dean and Cas over for dinner? Jessica won't be home until tomorrow."
"Did you invite Dean or Cas?"
"I think it was Cas," she pressed her lips together.
"Than they will be here," Sam smiled pulling his wife in for another kiss.
Deep lines marked around his eyes as he watched his daughter load up her car with her belongings. Sam knew this day was coming soon, but he still wasn't ready. Dean and Cas had come over the night before and helped her load most of the larger things into their truck. Jessica was moving into her own apartment and attending college a few hours away.
sam watched from the front porch as his wife flailed and cried when Jessica closed the trunk and looked at the drivers door. They hugged and before Jessica slipped into her car, she caught her fathers eye. A huge smile broke across her face as she raced to the front porch. She engulfed him in a hug and whispered in his ear, "I love you, Daddy."
And as she drove away, he whispered, "I wish you never grew up."
Jessica became a doctor in future years and rarely came home. Sam grew older and watched his wife pass away from cancer one cold winter morning. As he sat on the front porch before the funeral, Jessica's old car sputtered into the long driveway. She leapt from the car and embraced her father. "Daddy," she whispered and let tears fall from her eyes.
She could see her uncle Dean and his husband Cas in their living room grabbing their coats and sharing a quick, shy kiss. Sam noticed a young man exit Jessica's car and tightened his grip on her. She pulled away and went over to the boy bringing him over to her family. "Daddy, I brought Jimmy with. I hope you don't mind."
Her uncles were on the porch and they smiled at what looked like a memory. They both turned to Sam and watched his reaction. "Anything for you, Jess."
The family drove in Dean's car to the funeral and after Jenny was laid to rest, Jessica was alone with her father as her uncle hounded Jimmy. "Daddy," she mumbled while hugging him goodbye.
"Hm?"
"I wish I never grew up."
He laughed lightly and hugged her tighter, "Me too."
Okay! I know it is cheesy but I wanted to do this song and I figured Dean was to MANLY to use. And Sam is the sappy one! lol
