This is my second Nabari fanfic, but my first wasn't that great really… so this is my unofficial first. I have no beta, so bear with me please!

This is kind of just one giant spoiler for chapter 61, so don't read it if you haven't read that chapter first! This is my take on what happens after, because amidst the tears I was constantly thinking ahead.

There aren't very many words; less than five hundred, but I can keep going. Read and decide if I should write more; just review and let me know.

Disclaimer: I don't own Nabari No Ou… I wish I did, but I'm just not that cool.

Raimei woke leaning against the wall. She was alone.

She didn't exactly remember falling asleep, much less here, which worried her. She couldn't remember…

Raimei gasped as suddenly memories of the previous day flooded her mind. "Kouichi!" She looked around her, but he was nowhere to be seen. She looked around her, all around, but she didn't see anyone. Every emotion flooded back in one great rush and Raimei buried her head in her arms, beginning to cry.

He was gone now. She would have thought that he was a dream to begin with, but her sword was broken and she was here. Maybe he did love her… but it wasn't enough. It never would be. And Raikou… He would have been here by now. He was either very badly hurt, or…

No! Raimei exploded up off the ground and was running in less than a second, searching for Raikou and Gau, trying to come up with a reason that they wouldn't have found her. She stumbled to a stop at the doorway of a random building and looked inside. Her vision started to spot with black at what she saw, unconsciousness threatening to take her once more. She gripped the doorframe tightly and closed her eyes, pushing away the sick feeling that was building up inside of her.

When she opened her eyes the sickening image was still there, but somehow she could stomach it, though it was even more horrible seeing it now. The element of surprise had worn off, but the level of truth was setting into her mind.

Raikou and Gau were both lying on the ground surrounded by a pool of blood. Raimei rushed forward and knelt by them, checking to see exactly what condition the two were in.

The majority of the blood came from her brother. The sword was running straight threw him; Shijima hadn't even bothered to take it out of him before she left. Raimei knew before she ever checked for even a faint pulse that he was long dead to the world.

She swallowed up more tears and turned her back on her now lifeless brother, facing Gau. Though injured, he didn't look nearly as bad. There were deep gouges across his face that were still bleeding freely, he was crumpled and pale, but he was alive for the time being. Forcing all thoughts of Raikou out of her mind she carefully picked up Gau, becoming stained with both boys' blood in the process, and stumbled off. She ran as quickly as she could with the boy's weight carefully balanced in her arms, trying to find any hospital. Gau was all she had left now; she couldn't let him die.

He wouldn't die on her, not now. He was everything she had to lose.

She held him even more tightly and ran faster, flying through the streets, searching…
