The night spilled with stars, flooding light over the forest. Starstripe watched the stars dance, her purr blending in with the soft howl of the wind. She closed her eyes as the wind played with her fur.
"Starstripe?" a voice made Starstripe frown. She turned to see Jayfeather, his gray pelt dull in the stars' light. She glared at him, her deep green eyes clearly showed her annoyance.
"What do you want?" Starstripe turned away. Jayfeather's eyes flashed his anger, but he swallowed his pride to walk over to Starstripe. He sat beside her, his gray pelt blended with Starstripe's silver fur. Starstripe glanced at him, her eyes now showed a quick glimps of love. She pushed it away, glaring at the sky.
Last year's wishes
Are this year's apologies
They sat in silence, the wind made their fur brush up against one another.
"Starstripe," Jayfeather looked at her, his eyes held concern. Starstripe looked at him, her heart racing.
Every last time I come home
"Yeah?" She never truley realized that she had always wanted to be this close to the ThunderClan Medicine Cat.
"You're a stubborn mousebrain." his meow was flat. Starstripe hissed at him, mainly angery at herself for letting her emotions get the best of her again.
"Are you trying to make me look like an idiot?!" She spat
"You don't need my help for that one," Jayfeather shrugged
"THAT'S RIGHT!" Starstripe hissed. She paused for a second, realizing what she just said. "TH-THAT NOT WHAT I MENT!"
Jayfeather laughed, easily winning the argument.
I take my last chance
To burn a bridge or two
Jayfeather closed his eyes, not like it really mattered anyways. He thought over the next words in his head, trying to pick out the best way to rub in his victory. The breeze pushed past them against, it's soft howl held whispers of the past, the present, and the future.
Starstripe waited in rage. She sat there, waiting for Jayfeather to say something like: "Better luck next time, Outsider!"
But...It never came.
I only keep myself this sick in the head
Cause I know how the words get you {off}
"Jay?" Starstripe's voice held her thoughts. Jayfeather rolled his eyes. She was always like this. He looked away, his memories flooding back to him.
Starstripe looked at Jayfeather, his pelt a bit puffed up from annoyance. She couldn't remember what she saw in him when she was an apprentice.
She would padd after him, asking him stupid questions just to piss him off.
We're the new face of failure
Prettier and younger but not any better off
