Unspoken Agreements.

For some odd reason, Hermione and Ron were rather silent after the heated argument the night earlier. But it had seemed, as it never happened. The dormitory was quiet, only stifled yawns and mumblings about sleep deprivation. Hermione had her bushy hair back, school robes were back and was back studying.

"Hey Hermione," Ron called out carelessly, walking over to her.

"Hi," Hermione said back half-heartedly.

Ron sat down on the couch next to her, looking at all the books surrounding her, making something of a mini fort. Silence came over them; the only noise was a fellow Gryffindor snoring at one of the study desks and the fire crackling in the fireplace.

Ron broke the silence, "Hermione, don't you think you're over-doing it?"

Hermione turned to Ron raising a slender eyebrow.

"Its seven thirty in the bloody morning…and you're doing homework!"

"Well first of all Ron, don't swear. Secondly, unlike you I care about my final grades and education…and what's your excuse for being up this early?" Hermione asked, giving him daggers.

"I well I couldn't sleep I guess," Ron admitted, rubbing the back of his neck, looking down at his shoes.

Silence once again settled over the Common Room.

Ron stared at the back of Hermione's head. It was only then that Ron realised her hair was back to normal. He cared about Hermione more than any thing. She was as precious to him as schoolwork to her.

"Hermione-," he began but Hermione cut him of.

"Ron I don't want to talk about last night ok?" She said looking up from her book.

"I wasn't going to say anything about last night."

"Oh," Hermione replied looking slightly embarrassed

"What I was going to say was I do care about my education but I think some things are more important."

"Oh yea like what? Food, Quidditch-," She began but Ron interrupted her.

"Hermione," Ron began, "We've been friends for almost 4 years now, and I can't believe you think of me that way. There are things that I care about much more than Quidditch."

"Like?"

"Harry, my family, my health and yes my education." Ron finished.

"Is that all?" Asked Hermione feeling slightly disappointed.

"No," he said looking up.

"What else," she whispered.

It was only then that Ron realised how close they had gotten. Their foreheads were almost touching.

He looked into those soft brown eyes. Those beautiful eyes.

He paused then said it so quietly that he was sure no sound actually came out of his mouth, "You, I'm sorry for being a jerk last night you didn't deserve it. I don't deserve to have you as a friend."

Ron stood up and began to head towards the portrait hole but he felt a hand on his wrist stopping him.

"Ron, you were a jerk last night," Ron smiled guiltily, "But I forgive you. Ron your one of my best friends and I agree with you there are things more important than schoolwork. Lets not discuss the matter any more. Ok?"

"Yea."

Hermione stood up from her homework and gave Ron a warm hug. They broke apart and sat back down on the couch.

"Ron?"

"Yes."

"Why were you really angry at me last night?"

Ron smiled.
