The Loan
Ianto Jones smiled at the young female cashier, as she handed over the bankers draft.
"Is there anything else I can help you with today, Mr Jones."
Ianto smiled back, folding the piece of paper and putting it into his insode jacket pocket. "Thank you, no."
Ianto had been saving most of his wages for the best part of 6 months.
He owed Jack £250,000.
It was taking quite a while for his compensation come through after Torchwood One was destroyed and he wanted to pay back his boss as soon as he could.
He'd used all his available money at the time, helping to find a cure for Lisa. The Professor had asked for £150,000 before he'd even consider seeing her; and look where it got him.
He'd mortgaged his flat and was in debt up to his eye balls. Jack had bailed his arse out, no questions asked. He'd made Ianto buy an apartment with the money from the Crown.
Now it was time to repay the immortal.
Ianto stood in the doorway to Jack's office and cleared his throat, getting Jack's attention. "Er hum."
Jack looked up from his paperwork. Glad of the distraction, he smiled. "Ianto, and it isn't even time for coffee." He put down his pen and leaned forward.
Ianto inclined his head. "Sir." He moved into the office. "I came to give you back the money you loaned me." He placed a bankers draft on Jack's blotter.
Jack clasped his hands in front of him and looked at the piece of paper, as if it were alien to him.
"What's this?"
Ianto frowned. "The £250,000 I owe you, plus £5,000 interest. I hope that's enough." He looked worried.
Jack sat back, looking at the Welshman. "And you're giving it to me because?"
"Because you loaned it to me."
Jack pushed the piece of paper away. "I don't want it."
"But it was a loan."
"Back then, yes. Now, it's a gift."
"But I've been saving up to give it back to you for the last 6 months!"
Jack smiled. "Then go into Town and blow it on some expensive suits. Buy a car. Hell, you could buy a descent apartment for that!"
Ianto rolled his eyes. "I have enough suits, thank you very much. The Audi is fine, by the way. Buy an apartment…" He thought for a moment. "Nah, I already have one and besides, I like it here…with you."
Jack stood up and rounded his desk, coming to stand inches from his lover. "Mmm, and I like having you here."
They kissed.
"Sure you're not after me for my money, sir?"
"As if, Ianto Jones."
They both laughed.
"Dinner on you tonight, then?" said Jack.
Ianto rolled his eyes.
THE END
