They say the Dark turns you mad. But who are they and who are you?
They are the fools: of the light, of the ministry.
You are meant to be human. If you were the statement might even be true. Any human born without Dark inclination will go mad if they dare delve into its secrets, for they are deemed unworthy of the knowledge, power, and responsibility which come with its use.
And human cannot tell if they are Dark unless their lineage is true, or, of course, unless they try. After which it might be too late for them to regret it. You chuckle at their foolishness.
You are not human. You are a vampire prince; your ancestry is purer than any fool pure-blood's. You stand in the crowded room. Reeking of the humans, rancid with the sour taste of their foul blood. They look at you with fear, as if you could bear how disgusting they would undoubtedly taste. Humans think vampires feed on anyone, disregarding the human themselves. But that was a lie. Vampires have standards and yours, as an elite member of vampire society, are high. You prefer them young and pure, kind and gentle. Only that smell could make you drink from them. Luckily for you those are the kinds to donate their blood or themselves, so you've rarely had to kill a human.
Also, luckily for your hunger, few at this party are pure in any sense. Only a few of the young "potentials." Good thing you ate before you came.
Then you sense him, someone so Dark it calls to your senses. You turn to see Harry Potter. He's not a savior for the Light. In fact he's definitely not human. Not with an aura that Dark. You inhale quickly taking in his scent.
He's a living vampire. How rare, you muse. The best part is that he probably doesn't even know what he is, or what that means. You decide you should change that.
I'm testing for interest, please review (even just saying "more") if you'd like me to continue. Also, I'm not sure whether to only have this preface in 2nd person or write the whole story like this – opinions? (It's Sanguini's POV.)
