I just had to type this up (even though I should be typing the next chapter of System Error or doing my job as a beta). I mean, the idea of giving the System Error cast magic powers was just too enticing…

Let me know what you think, okay?

Disclaimer: Natsuki (who is not homicidal or criminally insane right now) and Arlua are mine, along with Tania. Durarara and associated characters are not mine.

"Hey, Natsuki," Arlua Teki called to her friend and boss. "What's my schedule for today?"

"Just one client for you," was the response. Natsuki Homeron was an imposing woman with dark hair and darker eyes. Despite being a mere plant mage, and an herbalist at that, she was the manager for the Ikebukuro branch of the Mystycs Support Company, an international organization that allowed various supernatural beings to communicate and interact, as well as assisting them however they could.

"Just one all day? I'm a liason, not a bodyguard. I can do more than one client per day," Arlua grumbled. Natsuki shook her head.

"Not with this one," she replied grimly. "This one is notorious for being stressful on liasons." Arlua blinked, then shrugged.

"He can't be that notorious, or I would know who he is already," she pointed out. Natsuki frowned.

"Surely you've heard of Izaya Orihara," the manager insisted. Arlua tilted her head thoughtfully.

"That name is sort of familiar," she admitted. "If he's so infamous, do I get a bodyguard?" Natsuki considered for a moment.

"He's never physically or magically assaulted a liason, but he does frequent some shady places," she mused. "Sure. You can take your wolf."

"He's not my wolf," Arlua retorted. "Shi's smitten with that Seer." Natsuki flapped a hand dismissively.

"Tania Yuuki is no match for a werewolf. Heiwajima would be better off with someone with a more active power."

"You mean like an herbalist, who can only enhance plants' natural properties?" Arlua countered. Natsuki's eyes darkened with a kind of hunger Arlua was glad she had never experienced for herself.

Maybe I shouldn't have brought up her fascination with Shi… the liaison thought nervously. But then Natsuki's expression cleared, and she gave her friend a tight smile.

"Werewolves in general are better suited to energy or object manipulators – of which you are both," the herbalist pointed out. "Heiwajima in particular is a very powerful wolf. He requires either a bond or a mate who can successfully control him." Arlua hid a scowl at that. Shi didn't need to be controlled. He wasn't a mindless beast. He wasn't.

"All right. Back to the subject of today's client," the liaison decided. "What abilities does he have?"

"No one knows. But his cover in the human world is his occupation as an informant," Natsuki answered, seeming to relax at the change of topic. "Which means…"

"He probably has some easy to disguise power, or some sort of sneaky ability," Arlua replied. "Have Shi meet me halfway there. That fountain park should work as a rondevous."

"A public meeting place? With a werewolf in tow?" Natsuki demanded incredulously. Arlua had to resist the urge to glare at her friend.

"I have confidence in Shizuo Heiwajima's ability to keep his wolf side restrained," she stated calmly. "Even if you don't." With that, Arlua snatched the paper Natsuki was holding, which held the address of the place they were supposed to meet the client, Izaya Orihara, and then left quickly. She didn't want to argue with her manager – her friend – about the level of control of the blonde werewolf who was her usual mission parter.

What do you guys think? Should I continue this?
