Kaoru watched as Hikaru left the school grounds. He saw his own reflection watching him back in the glass. He saw his golden eyes filling with tears in front of him. Now that he was crying, he couldn't turn back to the Host Club.
Kaoru reached out for where Hikaru had disappeared into the Maze, and winced when his fingers hit the frail glass. He saw his on warm tears drop onto his hand, then slide off his soft skin to dampen the windowsill. He examined the glass as his reflection's cheeks flushed.
Kaoru knew he wasn't supposed to be crying. He was the one who had always convinced himself that he and Hikaru needed to be more independent. He forced himself to keep his shoulders from unwillingly jerking around as he attempted to cry subtly. Silently clutching his stomach, he kept from vomiting.
"Is it too late
Nothing to salvage
You look away
Clear all the damage
The meaning to
our words of love
Has disappeared
We used to love one another
Give to each other
Lie undercover so,
Are you friend or foe
Love one another
Live for each other
So, are you friend or foe
Cause I used to know…"
Kaoru had only just begun to dry his eyes when Tamaki blasted the radio louder. After hearing the first four lines, his eyes began to overflow again. With one hand still clutching his stomach and the other in a fist against the window, he tried to stay out of mind.
Kaoru's shoulders disagreed. They jumped up and down with each lonely, pathetic sob. He ground his teeth in an attempt to not be fully overcome by the Tamaki's stupid radio song. He couldn't help it, with a gasp he broke down right on the window sill.
Kaoru cried himself to sleep.
Kaoru awoke a mere hour later. There was silence in the room, no radio, and no movement. He checked his reflection in the now blindingly bright window. His eyes were not puffy or red, neither were his cheeks. His tears had dried, although his hair drooped sadly.
Kaoru turned to the seemingly-empty room. With a start, he saw four pairs of eyes all staring at him. Immediately he became depressed. None of those eyes were the beautiful golden globes of his brother. None of those eyes were the murky brown spheres of Haruhi. That meant his brother was still with that girl.
Kaoru heard laughter through an open window. He leaned out and searched for its source. He spotted his brother and that girl. They were laughing, enjoying themselves. Not thinking of what this could be doing to a lonely boy in Music Room 3. "DAMMIT HIKARU!" he shouted.
Kaoru clutched his stomach once again. He ran to the bathroom to vomit.
Kaoru was forgotten.
Kaoru was alone.
Kaoru was abandoned.
Hikaru didn't know.
AUTHOR'S NOTES
I'm sad, somebody love me! I'm so confused; I'm not sure what's going on with her. (Funny, I RP with her as Hikaru and Kaoru.) So this is sort of how I'm feeling at the moment.
Yes, I DO mean to start every sentence (except the last one) with Kaoru. I wanted to try it out to see how it would work out. I'm pleased if I say so myself.
Friend or Foe belongs to T.a.T.u.
Ouran High School Host Club belongs to Bisco Hatori
This little drabble belongs to me.
