"Of course Bella, I love you." Rodulphus whispered, backing her into a wall. He tangled his fingers upon her Slytherin tie and began to unwrap it. She closed her hand on his and, without saying a word, removed it. He groaned. "Bella please, you know I love you."
"What's love, really?" she smiled.
"A pleasure of sorts." he replied. He kissed her neck and placed his hands on her hips.
"How would you know? We're only seventeen." she pushed him off and toyed with his hair.
"An age full of wonders, it is."
"You love me, right?" she asked. She pulled his chin up and locked eyes, only to have him glance away from her gaze.
"I love you more than anything in the world."
"Then how come," she said, "how come you never look at me in the eyes. Are you afraid of what you will see?"
"No, I--"
"Then look at me." she whispered. He locked gazes with her and stared at her charcoal eyes. A wall of unshed emotion was building up, he saw. How long would that take to break down? Deeper, he saw that there was a sense of darkness. He saw tears and torture that was brought upon her, but even further... he saw a rose. One with only three thorns, each sharp and spiky with withering petals. Already, one was burnt with an ember residing on it.
"What do you see?"
"I see-- pain."
"What else?"
"Bella."
"What do you see?"
"Bella, please sweetheart, don't do this."
"Thats right, Rodolphus. You see darkness. And you're scared. Don't be." she kissed him gently and walked away.
