Hey there, this is one of those A-Z things that crazy people do, I thought I might try my hand at it. I'm not sure it might be a bit strange? Or a little boring? But please try to keep reading (: The more letters I upload the more intense they will become (here's hoping!) So these (Drabbles? are they called) chapters by the end will hopefully have a healthy level of Romance, Action, Drama and general Fantasy that we all love. (:
PLEASE R&R, it gives me hope. :3
DISCLAIMER: I don't own these things, they are J K Rowling's.
A is for Arriving.
The water was still and glassy. An eternity of stars shone from the depths, reflected from the nights sky. They twinkled merrily, invitingly. They beckoned to the children, daring them to move closer, to reach out and touch the glistening water; to plunge themselves into the cool and dangerous depths of the lake.
A collection of small boats floated near the shoreline. Tiny ripples moved away from their hulls. The ripples moved only centremeters before being swallowed by the inky stillness of the lake. The children hesitantly moved toward the little boats, clinging together in groups of two and three; a look of frightened awe upon their faces. They clambered awkwardly into a boat, long black robes catching on the wooden structures. Several boats wobbled precariously, disturbing the stillness of the water before settling again.
Once aboard the boats jerked softly and began to move forward of their own accord. They sliced through the water with ease, barely disturbing the surface. The children sat still, not speaking, a look of intense anticipation on every face. They passed a dark and eerie forrest and rounded a corner and beheld a sight that made every child's face light up with joy.
The turrets of a castle had come into view. The castle was huge, historic. The very bricks screamed of tales untold and stories to discover. Several of the children's mouths had fallen open in awe at the sight. The boats had arrived at their destination, reaching the shore with the slightest of bumps.
Again, the children awkwardly clambered over the sides of the boats, leaving one boy behind. The boy could not take his eyes off the castle in front of him, seemingly still awestruck at the sight. He shook his messy fringe out of his face to reveal a peculiar scar and straightened his round glasses.
"Home," he whispered.
I know it's short, sorry. Most of my chapters are. I hope with practice they will get longer!
