Yoshiki stood right outside Ayumi's house. The day was one filled with love, also known as Valentine's Day. His face held an ever-so-obvious shade of red at the thought of what he was about to do. In his hand was a box of chocolate and a note. The note was the most important, in his opinion. He knew full well that he'd most likely be unable to actually tell her his feelings so he had written it all down. What a coward he was.
Taking a deep breath, he knocked on the wooden door. Quickly after the blond could hear footsteps, and soon the door slammed open. Out came Ayumi Shinozaki, the class representative of 2-9. She was already dressed up in a simple sky blue dress(which looked absolutely wonderful on her, he noted), and looked as if impatiently waiting for someone.
"Oh, Kishinuma. I wasn't expecting you to drop by. Did you need something?" she asked, slight annoyance evident in her voice.
"N-not exactly..." It was now or never. "H-here," he said, handing her both the note and chocolate. She took them, first reading the note that he had thoughtfully written.
An awkward silence hung over them for what felt like an eternity, before Ayumi finally gave it back to him. "I'm sorry, but I can't accept this, nor can I return your feelings."
Thank god he didn't follow through with his plan to kiss her... But, he saw the rejection coming, since she obviously had her eyes on a certain friend of his.. "Satoshi, right?" he said, glancing down and taking his items. He'd figure out what to do with them later, but now his mixed emotions were cluttering his thoughts. "You never could quit talking about him, even in Heavenly Host," he continued to himself almost silently, so that she wouldn't hear.
"I'm surprised you haven't noticed, Kishinuma."
Noticed what? Were she and Satoshi dating in secret or something? The thought of it pissed him off, but at least she'd be happy. "You're with him now, aren't you?"
Ayumi looked as if she was going to burst into laughter. "Nope! I got over him a little while ago, after..." She paused, looking to the side sadly. "After Sis passed away.."
Oh right. That 'little' incident at the Shinozaki Estate. He was about to say something, most likely to change the subject or provide some comforting words for her, but he was quite a bit suddenly cut off by someone approaching them.
"Naomi!" Ayumi threw her arms around the newcomer. And with that, the previous, rather depressing topic was dropped.
The brunette was dressed in a nice, yellow dress, with hearts littered all around the cloth. It was surprisingly girly, especially for Naomi.
"Sorry for taking so long, Ayumi," she said, and Yoshiki noted that they had both used each other's first names.
Ayumi smiled, planting a quick kiss on the other girl's lips. "It's fine, but we should probably get going before the restaurant closes."
He could only stare, jaw dropped and eyes wide, at the display of affection he had just witnessed. How the hell did this even happen?!
He was left standing there, trying to get his mind to completely process what had just happened as the two girls left.
"Wh-what the hell?!"
