How completely ironic that while putting away laundry she did to take her mind off Spencer not taking the next step in their relationship, she found an engagement ring box hidden in the bottom of his sock drawer.

She never did the laundry. Spencer did it – he didn't mind it since he treated it like a continual chemistry experiment, and that was just fine with her. But today, she had been frustrated at the lack of forward progress in their relationship. She wasn't getting any younger and they'd been living together for six months already. She wouldn't trade what they had for anything, but... she wanted more.

Seeing that blue box hidden there opened a flood gate of emotions. It couldn't be unseen.

Somehow the worry and anxiety that she hadn't consciously realized she was carrying around with her until that moment disappeared and was replaced with an overwhelming sense of snuggly warmth.

Her hand went to her mouth and she couldn't stop the tears. She moved backwards to the bed, where she quickly and unconsciously sat down. She felt guilty for ever doubting him, for finding it early, because really if there was one place in their apartment she never should have been looking that was it. She also felt more loved than any word could ever assure her. Shock. Shock that he could hide something this big from her and just plain shock.
