Determination

Too little, too late, Sherlock's mind provided, staring down at the body and the bloody water on the shower floor. He was being physically held back, but his mind raced ahead with the deductions: it was a perfect locked door scenario. There was a wound, but not one large or visible from this side. The shampoo in his hair signified that he had gotten into the shower himself, and Sherlock found it unlikely that since Bainbridge had contacted him, he would commit suicide.

Unlike him, though, John wasn't pushing ahead with the deductions. He was, Sherlock could tell, getting more increasingly agitated. Something had happened in the office, something that had made John irritated, and it had followed him here to the showers. But now, now it was getting worse, and soon...

"I'm John Watson, Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers, three years in Afghanistan, a veteran of Kandahar, Helmand, and Bart's bloody Hospital," John exclaimed. "Let me examine this body!"

There it was.

Instinct took over; Sherlock retreated a half step back into his mind palace irrational for fear of sustaining bodily harm. He knew John wouldn't hurt him, but John's military voice... well, that was something to be reckoned with. You just instantly reacted to John's military voice. Albeit with raised eyebrows or a cringe, you just knew not to mess with John then.

Sherlock wasn't the only one to think that, because that other guy - the Captain or Sergeant or whatever he was called, Sherlock had already deleted his name - stared at John for a moment before nodding harshly as if to say fine!

Sherlock had to fight away the smirk as he glanced at John. John just squared his shoulders and fixed his coat, striding over to the body.

Ever the soldier.

Sherlock smoothed out his features and strode after John.

I just wanted to write a little thingy for this scene in tSo3. I love John's Captain voice, I love Sherlock's subtle little reaction, I love how the guy is just like fine but I'm not bloody happy about this!nod. John's military voice needs some love.

I do not own Sherlock. Thanks for reading!
