Professor Snape was in an ungodly happy mood the past month. His classes were easier, the tests were shorter and not so brutal, he barely gave out any homework, and his face seemed to be carrying around a happy look. Many of the students thought he finally cracked, some thought he finally got the job he always wanted as the DADA teacher, and then there were the select few who joked that the potions teacher finally got "laid" and that was the end to all his misery. Wrong. All of them are wrong. There was a reason for his sudden happiness, but no one knew, well no one except the teaching staff and the Weasly twins, but as you probably already guessed they're not saposto know. But all would be revealed at the finally dinner before Christmas vacation started.
The Great Hall was brightly decorated with all kinds of lights, garland, tinsel, fake frost (or was it?) the tree was lit and the tables were covered with red and green cloths. The students talked in hushed voices as McGonagal, Dumbeldoor, and Snape walked up to the teacher's table, followed by a young girl. She couldn't be any older than sixteen, she stood 5'2'', her hair was a soft pinkish kind of color and came down to her small shoulders but was pulled back into a loose ponytail, she wore small framed glasses that covered deep blue eyes, she was very pale and kept her gaze down cast to the floor. She did not wear a Hogwarts uniform, her dress consisted of a pair of tight blue jeans and a black tank-top with a low cut neck line, her sneakers were well worn in and at one point in their life they were black. On her left arm she carried a scar in the shape of a star with small lines following it. In short it looked like a shooting star (it'll be explained later. And no it is in no way like Harry's lightning bolt so :op).
McGonagal places the sorting hat on its stool and faced the other students, the girl right behind her. Dumbeldoor was the first to speak. "I know what's going through your heads right now. You all are wondering who this girl is," he nodded at her. "Her name is Alexis Snape..." and from the crowded hall there came an eruption of whispers from the students. Alexis' face blushed and stared harder at the floor. McGonagal taped her glass quieting the hall, the headmaster began again. "As is tradition, she will be sorted into a house," he turned to the girl. "Are you ready?" She nodded and sat on the stool when McGonagal picked up the hat. The old hat sprang to life as it was placed onto her head.
"Ah, a new girl. Lets see now, where shall I place you?" It 'hmmed' and 'oohed', nodding its pointy tip, the eye flaps narrowed and returned too normal. "I've got it. Though it was a tough decision. You shall be in Griffendor!" Snape's drinking glass shattered in his hand. The happy look on his face faded and he was back to the dark looking professor everyone hates. The Griffendor table could just feel the heat of the glares directed to them from the Slytherin kids. Alexis looked like she was about to cry, from fear of not being near her father, or from actually getting away from him, no one knew. But, she stepped down and walked to the Griffendor table. The only room they allowed her was in between the Weasly twins, who gladly moved over and welcomed her. Harry, Ron and Hermione also bid her welcome, but she remained silent, and stayed that way or the rest of dinner.
