Disclaimer: I don't own the show or the characters.
AN: The first five episodes came out on VHS and since buying it, I have been watching over and over again. I haven't felt this way since Ninja Storm. This is my first Sky/Syd fic. Begins during the episode Walls.

"Don't test me Syd, or you'll be sorry."
Sydney stared at Sky, Yeah right She thought to herself. She made a quick decision and threw a diamond at him for the third time. Before she could blink, he walked over and poured water over her, and then burst out laughing.
She stared at him; Sky was so serious it was weird seeing him laughing. But it looked great on him. "It took me looking like this to get a grin out of you?"
His smile faded; "Very funny."
"No it looks good on you, if you spent less time being a loner and more time with the team you'd grin more."
Sky responded by using his ability to raise a shield between himself and someone else. But Sydney wasn't detoured. She'd gotten to see the fun side of Sky and somehow she'd see it again.
And get back at him for the water thing.

Hours later Syd along with the others were stunned when Jack came into the room with Sky, "Look who I got to play light ball with us."
"Just like old times." Bridge said.
They began to play and Syd was glad Sky was on her team, he was a great player and quite agile when moving. She was so intent on getting away from Z, she and Sky crashed right into each other and they landed on the floor.
Sky held out his hand, "You ok?"
Syd took it, "Yeah I'm great." She liked seeing the fun Sky so much and his smile was to die for. Get a grip Syd She told herself.

The next day she finally saw her chance, Sky was assigned to water the plants in the academy greenhouse and he had left the hose unattended and she couldn't resist. She picked it up, turned it on, and aimed it straight at Sky.
"Hey!" He turned and saw her. "All right pink ranger let's see what you got."
He picked up another water hose and soon a full scale fight was in progress. She hadn't had so much fun in ages. Eventually after being soaked to the skin, she finally decided to surrender.
"That was fun." Sky said smiling.
Syd smiled; "It's not often I hear you say that, you're always so serious, so moody."
He looked out the window, a faraway look on his face, "I drive myself and others to hard. I just wanted to be like my dad so much. He was a red ranger and killed in action."
Syd touched his arm, "Sky I'm sorry."
"I was eleven when he died and my mother never fully healed from it, she closed herself off for quite some time; and I developed a thicker skin because of it."
"I'm sure they're both proud of you. Tell you what Sky, you teach me how to do better a light ball and I'll teach you to loosen up."
Sky smiled; and it went all the way to his blue eyes which at the moment didn't seem to cold. "You got a deal."

Hours later they sat outside on a blanket; they'd spent the rest of the day together wiping up the greenhouse and then went to their rooms to clean up. Afterwards they met up again. "Beautiful sunset." She said.
"It is." He replied. He looked at her, "If I were to kiss you right now how would you react?"
Syd smiled, "What would a power ranger do?"
Sky smiled and leaned close, Syd met him halfway and just as the sun set over the horizon they shared their very first kiss.
Hopefully the first of many.
