'Till Death Do Us Part

On his way out, he felt his village ties sever and snap, one by one.

Each frayed string drifting away had him feeling that much lighter, that much more free.

One by one, until one is left; one made of gold and platinum and cold solid stone impossible to break.

It has you, Naruto, all over it and no matter how he tries to rip it apart he will never be rid of you.

Every time he's away, a little farther, the rope unwinds slightly, and he can feel it, so he runs from you.

Every time he sees you, Naruto, that bond gets a little tighter, a little closer to his heart. But the longer he is away, the less that bond pulls you together.

On his way into Sound, he felt no shame or guilt nor anything but empty. When whispers of doubt fluttered by he crushed them under iron will power.

He thought he would have no regrets, but unfortunately there were a few.

One, of course, would have to be this bond of yours, which gets weaker, just a little weaker every day. But every day is worth nothing when he thinks of you so he forgets you until that fateful moment when that golden, unbreakable bond snaps and his hearts left in cold darkness.

That unforgettable day when you both know that the next time, one of you will die.

On his way to the battle, Sasuke has no regrets, and knows he will live.

On his was to the battle, Naruto had many regrets, sadness and doubts. That bond may be gone from him, but for you Naruto, it is stronger than it has ever been.

Naruto knows Sasuke will win.

Because Sasuke has left everything behind.

Sasuke has come, ready to die.
