A/N: So I'm obsessed with RENT, and hopelessly in love with Mark Cohen, so here's a Mark/OC story!

"December 13, 5 PM, Eastern Standard Time." Mark Cohen narrated. "Here I am with Roger and Collins on the street. It's been a little more than a year since Angel died…"

"Mark…" Collins sighed.

"But I digress. Roger and Mimi are still happy together, and Maureen and Joanne are…whatever they are at the moment. And-"

Something collided with Mark, sending the camera flying; Roger caught it just in time.

Mark was face-to-face with a pale brunette dressed in clothes that wouldn't keep her warm under a scraggly coat that possibly would.

"I'm so, so, so, sorry…." She sighed. "Did I ruin your…okay, no, it's good. I'm sorry."

"Oh, no, it's fine…."

"Close up on Mark's erection." Roger joked.

"ROGER."

The girl laughed. "Mark? I'm Katherine….But why would I tell you that? It doesn't matter." She chuckled awkwardly. "I should be going." She walked away quickly.

"I think Mark's got a little crush." Collins laughed.

"Well, it doesn't matter now. Can I have my camera back, please?"

"Collins, are you crazy? Can't you see he's camerasexual?" Roger teased, handing the prized object back to Mark.

[Later…]

"December 14, 10 PM, Eastern Standard Time. It's the night of Maureen's protest against the closing of her lot. Some people just don't learn, do they? And of course, I'm talking about both of them."

He watched as Maureen sang about man-eating goldfish, sexual pineapples with long, fishnet-covered legs, and most importantly, anatomically impossible sex. She brought a person from the audience up onstage, a brunette who she promptly began humping like a dog to prove some kind of point. Needless to say, Joanne disapproved. Then Mark recognized her…the girl from the street. The pretty one.

Suddenly, he had a vision, a fleeting one - it was of Angel. "I invited her," he said. "Honey, you need someone to do the hand work for you or you're going to get carpal tunnel."

He shook that thought away; gross. But he knew it was some kind of sign - he had to make a move.
