Summary: Set somewhere between Hush and Who are You, I think. But Willow and Tara aren't all 'sort of together without knowing it' yet. Tara talks about the one guy who was interested in her.
"You've never been with someone before?" Willow found it really hard to believe that someone as pretty as Tara never had a boyfriend. "But, I bet plenty of guys flirted with you, right?"
"Well," Tara turned to lie on her stomach. Willow was sitting beside her on Tara's bed. "I was never seriously with someone before. But there was one guy,"
Willow knelt on the floor, sitting in front of Tara. "And," She said excitedly.
"My mother was friends w-with his, so I knew him since I could remember. His name was Sean. He was always p-popular, always good-looking. He was never alone, except in the mornings in High School. I w-would go there early, to read my mother's spell books in the library. I-I had to sneak them to school in my bag, so my father wouldn't see them. Sean was always there, reading. He was really sm-smart. But his 'friends' never gave him a chance to be alone, do what he wanted. He came up to me, the f-first day I came back to school after my mother died. He talked to me for a while, and was really nice, although I thought that was probably because of my mother.
"Every morning after that, I spent talking to him. Sometimes I sat at the top of this hill n-near my house. A few times he came up there. Mostly, we didn't talk, but it felt nice, just having him there. You know?" Willow nodded. "When we did talk, Sean told me I was pretty, and interesting to talk to. I said I couldn't be that interesting, because his 'friends' referred to me as 'mouse'. H-he said that was just because they didn't know me. But, a-apart from Sean, no-one knew me.
"The morning th-thing continued, and Sean used to sit beside me in class. If we were in the back, near a corner, he held my hand under the desk. Senior Prom came. Sean told everyone he had to go somewhere, so he couldn't go to the Prom. A l-lot of girls cried. I didn't go either, didn't want to. He came to the hill on Prom night, and sat up there with me 'till late. He said he didn't like Proms anyway, and if I wasn't there, he didn't want to be there either."
"Awwww…." Willow smiled. "That's so cute! I like this story,"
Tara smiled back, sadly. "But then, High School was over, and it was time to go to collage. We were both leaving on the same day, except I was going to the west, a-and Sean was going to the east. We spent the last day on the hill. We stayed there for hours, until about 2AM. Then, when we were a-about to go opposite ways, he kissed me."
"Your first?"
Tara nodded. "When I went home, I cried. I guess I never realised how much I liked him. I got in trouble, but I didn't care. I was leaving in a few hours."
"Did you ever hear from him again?" Willow asked.
Tara shook her head. "Hey," She said suddenly. "it's seven thirty. We've stayed up all night."
"Wow," Willow said. "I'd better get back." She stood up to leave. "Have you ever told anyone else that story?"
"Never found the right kind of person," Tara sighed. "until now,"
"We could…..get some lunch. Okay?" Willow said over her shoulder.
"Sure," Tara smiled, as she watched Willow walk down the corridor.
