Lee Walker lay in bed. This is the life he thought. He could sleep as long as he wanted and he didn't have anywhere to go. You gotta love Saturdays. "Wake up," said his mom. "Why, it's Saturday?" Lee asked. "You mean Friday," his mom answered. Lee's memory obviously wasn't great. After a quick breakfast Lee walked to his school. Lee lived in a small town in Pennsylvania, and it was a short walk to the local middle school. Lee was a thirteen -year old eighth grader. Lee wasn't popular and didn't have many friends. The school day was long and tiring. The only class Lee enjoyed was history with Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith was now teaching about Ancient Sumer and it's mythology. He taught in a way that kept the info in your heads. When the school day ended Lee was happy to be done. Suddenly Lee had the feeling of being watched. He gazed at the forest next to the road and to his shock saw three creatures emerging from the forest. As they came into view he saw what they were. He gasped. He knew them from history class. They were edimmu, evil ghosts from Sumerian mythology. They each held axes. One of the edimmu stepped forward. It pointed its ax at Lee. "Lee Walker it's time for you to die," it said. The edimmu advanced. Lee tried to run, but his legs were rooted to the ground. Then Mr. Smith appeared with a dagger in his hand. "Don't touch the boy," he said. Then as fast as lightning he beheaded an edimmu with the dagger. He stabbed the second in the chest. The third swung at him with it's ax, but Mr. Smith dodged. Then Mr. Smith cut the edimmu in half. "Follow me," he said to Lee. He led us back to the school's parking lot and stopped at his car. "Get in," he commanded. Maybe it was the sheer impossibility of what Lee had just seen or maybe it was the force in Mr. Smith's voice but without any questions Lee got in.
