Prologue
~ Sam….2014
As a child, I never really got along with my older brother. He was obnoxious, rude, and he always loved to get me angry. My mom and dad were always having to separate us because we were always fighting so much. I did my best to ignore him, but it was hard. Over time, as I grew older, I began to resent my brother. When I was old enough to go to college, I didn't hesitate. I left almost immediately after leaving high school. After that, I only ever saw Dean on birthdays, holidays, and other various special occasions. I met a girl, and we settled down in a nice two bedroom apartment close to the college we were attending, Stanford University. I studied to become a lawyer while she studied to become a pediatrician. I talked to my mom often, and made to check on Dean every once in awhile. Most of the time, he ignored my calls, and to be honest, I never really cared all that much. Life was good, and I was happy.
Dean may have been hard to deal with, but he was my brother, and despite everything, I still cared very much for him. I only wish I had been able to realize that sooner, before it was too late. But I didn't, and I have to live with that now.
