The pale, tortoiseshell queen Eclipsefall gazed at her freshly born kits, it was alredy night and she was exhausted from kitting, her medicine cat alredy left. One was pure white tom and jet black she-kit. Suddenly Blazingstar, the leader and mate of Eclipsefall entered nursery. "Aren't they beautiful?" Eclipsefall looked at her mate and meowed, smiling happily.
"Yes they are...did you named them yet?" the reddish tom licked Eclipsefall's forehead and sat, entwining his tail with her's.
"No, I didn't. I think I name them... wait look!" the tortoiseshell she-cat's face was filled with surprise and pointed at her kit with black pelt. "What is this? It looks like a crescent moon." she ecaminated the mark closely.
"I never saw something like that, it really looks like half of moon, her black pelt also looks like sky at night." Blazingstar was really surprised too, it's not like everyday you find cat with crescent moon on shoulder. "I think we should name her Nightkit, because of black pelt and moon on her shoulder." he was really happy to have such pretty daughter.
"Hmm, that fits really well. Hey what if the other kit has some mark too?" Eclipsefall carefully rolled the white tom on the other side with her pink, little nose and to her surprise she found out her son has some marking too. "Look Blazingstar! This one looks like sun."
"That's really strange... two kits with markings and in one litter, this can't be coincidence! What if StarClan wants to tell us something?" the taller tom's mind was trying to figure out what it could mean, but he really couldn't think of much, maybe medicine cat Herondive could help.
"Well, let's put it aside we need to name this one too." she poked his head with her dappled tail making him to snap out of his thoughts."I will name him, you named Nightkit after all." the amber eyed queen thought of a lot of names, but in the end she choosed that one that really fitted. "His name will be Daykit, because of his marking and his soft, white pelt which looks like clouds."
"Okay, do you need something? I can bring you some fresh-kill, I bet you're hungry." Blazingstar rose up and gave his kits a lick on head and started to slowly walk away from warm nursery only to look back at smaller dappled she-cat as she gave him nod.
"Yes, I would be happy, and also do you think Herondive could know what those markings on Daykit and Nightkit's pelts mean?" she groomed her kits and nudged Nightkit more to her belly so she could nurse too.
"Okay, I will talk about it with Herondive." Blazingstar left the nursery, leaving Eclipsefall here with other sleeping kits and queens, snuggled close to each other. Soon after her two kits were fed, she decided it was time to go to sleep too.
"Sleep well, Nightkit and Daykit." she whispered and closed her eyes snuggling with them on her moss bed.
