A/N: This lovely headcanon comes from the Tumblr user sonofasphinx and I really wanted to write a Drabble to it. (it's probably my fav headcanon)
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh!
It was usually like this.
After the other had fallen asleep Ryou would find himself trapped in his arms, his chin resting on the boy's head. Ryou didn't quite understand why, nor did he want to escape that warm and safe embrace.
He couldn't explain to himself why the Thief King would approach him while he was asleep.
He didn't even seem to be the type of person who cuddles.
But here he was, holding Ryou as if he was a treasure that needed to be protected at all costs, a treasure that nobody could have but him.
Ryou shifted a little against the body beside him let out a shaky breath.
Whatever the Thief King was planning, unconscious or not, it had some effects on Ryou.
In moments like these he found it especially hard to fall asleep. Strong arms wrapped around his body, strands of hair tickling him in places his hands couldn't reach and especially that warmth the was receiving. That reminded him of the times when it was a little different.
The Thief King would try to bury his face into Ryou's chest and made sure that there was as little space as possible between them.
It was like the Thief King was yearning for protection.
No matter what scenario, Ryou couldn't deny the physical contact and how good it felt.
How could he when every night he was held for dear life?
Or when the Thief King was clinging to him, overwhelming him with his affectionate gestures?
It's not like Ryou had never confronted the other with that before, but all he had received was a grimace which was followed by a laugh.
"Don't be ridiculous, host!"
Was his verbal response, but not many hours later the Thief King would cling to him again.
Ryou smiled to himself. Of course he would never admit his nightly activities, because what is a King without his pride?
