-prologue-
Annabeth Chase was a simple girl.
If you saw her, your eyes would probably gloss over her grey eyes and curly blond hair, dismissing her as another face in the crowd. Nobody saw Annabeth as anything special, not even Annabeth herself. She was simple in appearance, and when she looked in the mirror she was never amazed.
But if you knew Annabeth personally, you would notice the things that made her interesting. The way fire seemed to flare in her eyes when she was furious or how he bit her lip when thinking hard about something.
Everyone Annabeth knew seemed to have a narrative written out for her, deciding how her life would go, and for the longest time, Annabeth went along with it, like a wolf going along with the pack in fear of starving alone.
It was a tale as old as time, something regurgitated and insisted for centuries.
Boy meet girl.
Girl meet boy.
They live happily ever after.
Prince and Princess.
Mister and Miss.
Male and female.
She had been told this whole life and never doubted it. She didn't see a choice, she didn't see any other option. When you hear this as much in your life as Annabeth, you begin to accept it as fact.
Annabeth would question it as a child, but always got shut down. There was just nothing else to life. 'It's always been this way and that's the way it will be forever.'
So Annabeth dismissed her own questions.
'They are right.' Annabeth would admit begrudgingly. 'And I am wrong.'
But one day in highschool, something happens, and she realizes.
They were wrong.
