Neville stumbled over some rocks.
Luna kept walking forward, seemingly unaware of what had transpired, but Ginny looked back.
She quickly hurried to Neville and lifted him up. "Are you okay?" she asked worriedly.
Neville's eyes were shadowed as he fought to control his emotions. "I'm useless. I don't understand why I'm going with you," he muttered.
Ginny's stomach churned. She hated seeing Neville like this, especially when they had to be strong if they were going to make it through this unscathed. She looked over her shoulder and saw Luna had finally stopped. Her blonde hair blew around her, and Ginny knew Luna was thinking about something.
She turned back to Neville and once he was standing, Ginny took a step back. "Nev, we've been through this. We need to travel to the center of Europe and perform the ritual there. And anti-Apparition wards are two hundred feet around it, so we have no choice but to do it on foot."
Neville shook his head. "Why am I going though?"
Even after all of this time, Neville still didn't see his worth.
Ginny took a steadying breath. It would do her no good to lose her temper; he might just go even further into his shell. "The ritual to finally vanquish You-Know-Who requires three people with three different attributes: body, heart, and soul. If... If my brother, Hermione, and Harry were still a-alive, it would have been them performing it. They're gone, though, and it's up to us."
Neville looked away.
Ginny looked over at Luna.
Luna's gaze was now planted firmly on Neville. She slowly walked back to the two of them. "Neville, it's easy to see Ginny represents body."
Neville nodded in agreement. "And you can definitely represent soul, Luna. I've never met anyone that has as beautiful of a soul as you."
Luna smiled. "And Neville, you have one of the purest hearts. You care about others before yourself. You would sacrifice yourself to save another without a second thought. You give and you give, and you never expect anything back. That's why you belong with us. And together, the three of us will finish what Harry, Hermione, and Ron started. And when we do, they can finally rest in peace with the knowledge that their sacrifices weren't in vain."
Ginny smiled in relief. Luna had such a way with words. "I couldn't have said it better myself. We're in this together. Now let's end his reign of terror once and for all."
For the first time, Neville felt some renewed hope in his heart. If Ginny and Luna believed he belonged with them, why was he questioning his place within the ritual? He nodded slowly. "Let's do this."
Ginny looked back over her shoulder, to the direction they were heading. "We should be there within two days if we keep going at our current pace."
The three of them stood side-by-side and walked forward. They heard pops of Apparition in the distance and got their wands out.
They were ready to fight. Nothing and no one would stop them from completing their mission.
