Don't Go
"Don't go."
He had to. They needed him back in heaven. They needed his guidance. He had already been on Earth for far too long, he needed to return to the other angels. John knew that, yet he still refused to let Sherlock leave. The angel merely gave him a sorrowful smile. Tears streamed down John's face. Sherlock wiped away a tear with his thumb.
"I have to John."
"But I don't want you to."
The light around them grew brighter and warmer, its beautiful fingers grabbing onto Sherlock. John held Sherlock's coat tighter. No, he wasn't going anywhere, not on John's watch. He had already lost to many people he cared for, he wasn't going to lose the one he cared for the most.
"I know. I don't want to either, but others need me."
"I need you."
Tears weld up in Sherlock's eyes, yet he still had that stupid smile on his face. He leaned and kissed John with gentle and careful lips, only for John to kiss back with passion and need. He laced his fingers through the angel's hair, trying so desperately to keep him near. Sherlock pushed him back, but John held him in place.
"Don't go."
Sherlock kissed John on the forehead and stepped back into the light. John screamed out to him, desperately grabbing at him as the light enveloped the angel. John tried to reach to Sherlock, but grabbed nothing but light. He cried out Sherlock's name, but no one replied. As the light began to fade away John lunged forward, only to fall to the floor of 221B. His tears splattered onto the floor, staining the carpet. He's gone. Sherlock Holmes is gone. And John is left with a hollow pit inside of him and two words ringing in his head.
"Goodbye John."
