It was all cute, from the panic in his voice when I first invited him over for Christmas to the way he nervously stood on my porch when I opened the front door.
He smiled eagerly, and I returned the favor.
His appearance was rather...formal, considering it was just another holiday for my family, but I didn't argue it. At least he would make a lasting impression with some of my relatives. Instead, though, I joked, running a finger down his tie, "Nice outfit Brain..."
Yeah, I still called him that, at least when I was trying to get a laugh out of him.
"My mom made me," Evan replied, rolling his eyes. "But anyway, Hanukkah's sort of a big deal at my house, so I figured Christmas would be the same."
I couldn't help but smile as I let him into the house. "For some people it is, but this morning was the first time I've been to Church in a year, and my mom made us dress up for that. And we went to a 6:00 mass! It was crazy..."
My aunt was the first to greet Evan as we walked to my living room. And at that moment I started wondering how I would introduce him to everybody. Was I supposed to call him my boyfriend? Surely he'd be upset if I referred to him as anything else, but I didn't know what to do. It seemed like such a minute detail when I asked my mom if he could come over, but now I was at a standstill.
Evan took the bullet for me, though. Before I could say anything, he stepped up and shook my aunt's hand, saying, "I'm Evan, a friend of Brett's."
That was great! So now if he felt upset it wouldn't be my fault! Okay, that sounds pretty shitty of me, but it did take a weight off my shoulders. The only problem was, after he made his statement, I suddenly wanted him to have the boyfriend label on. But it would just sound silly if I re-introduced him as my boyfriend, so I let it be and smiled.
After we snacked on appetizers and waited for a few more of my family members to arrive, we headed to the basement to hang out and watch over the plethora of my younger cousins. And as we were heading downstairs, I heard my mom whisper something to my aunt, and I'm sure it was about Evan and I dating because the look on both of their faces showed it.
And when one cousin put on her winning smile and asked to take a picture of us (on what seemed to be her mom's camera) I couldn't resist. Well...okay, Evan couldn't resist. But it didn't even end with a simple picture- she refused to take it until I "smiled with teeth", which I had to admit was my least favorite kind of smile. But I did it, for her and for Evan, and I have to admit that it came out nice. The Christmas trees were in the background, Evan looked great with his tie and all, and my smile was better than I presumed. My football boys would probably laugh if they saw it, and they'd probably laugh even more if they heard all of this, but it doesn't really matter. That was a nice Christmas.
A/N: Happy early Christmas! By eight months…! I was doing an Eric/Graham manip, which is what inspired this fic. I hope you all like it and I really hope Brett wasn't too ooc. And yes, I know I need to update Just Can't Get Enough, but I'm still working on the overall outline of that fic and a new chapter will come out when I figure out exactly where I want to go with it. I have a bunch of random ideas for the middle, but the beginning and ending are giving me trouble. But I guess this will help pass the time! Reviews are always nice, too… ;)
