I think there might a few one-shots in FFN regarding the Pevensies' reflection on their life. But I still hope you might like this one-shot. I wrote this some time ago, and I thought that I might as well upload this. Hope you like this. Please read&review! I love reviews. :) No flames, constructive criticisms are welcomed. And the grammer/description might not be too good, I'm still trying to brush up on my skills.
Strange
Summary: It was strange how the Pevensie kids seem to have a demeanour well beyond their age. Post-Prince Caspian.
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters. They belong to C.S. Lewis.
Ever since the Pevensie kids had returned from the Professor's house, they have been acting strangely. Like as if they were some kind of royalties. Like as if they were adults.
They were. Well, at least in Narnia.
Now, even after being in school for at least three months, their peers have not failed to notice the way they behave and the way they carry themselves.
Peter was always the gentleman. He walked in a way that made heads turned towards him, he spoke in a way that captured the attention of everyone within the hearing range and the way he simply looked at a person, it was as if he was reading and analysing them. No one, except his siblings, knew that he badly wanted to go back to Narnia. To hold Rhindon in his hands and duel. To walk through the doors of Cair Paravel and give a contented sigh about how peaceful Narnia is. To simply be in Narnia.
Susan was always the beautiful lady with exceptional manners. Her pale reflexion and elegant smile were envied by many girls her age and conjured a long line of men wanting to court her. Neither of it bothered her. She wanted to be left alone most of the time, so that she can relive the memories she had brought back from Narnia. Narnia, the place that she knew she might never return to. It felt wrong, walking in the hallways of her school, when she should be walking down the wide corridors of Cair Paravel. It felt wrong to wear her school uniform, when she should be wearing a beautiful gown made in Narnia's finest silks. It felt wrong not being in Narnia.
Edmund, the honest one. He was the one his friends went to when they have a dispute over an issue. They knew that Edmund would skilfully solve it. Where he got this exceptional talent from, they do not know, and they never asked. But Edmund knew. He knew this talent of solving disputes was natural. He knew years of solving political problems back in Narnia had helped him to nurture that talent. And he somehow knew that he might go back to Narnia one day.
Lucy, the sweet and curious girl. She was always the most cheerful one of the Pevensies. Her very presence brightened the atmosphere in a room. But people found it strange to see that she sat and dwelled upon something. Something that no one except her siblings knew. People found it weird that Lucy, the girl who was always smiling, was always absorbed in a deep thought. Of course, how would a third party know that Lucy was thinking about Narnia and feeling extremely sad that Peter and Susan could never go back? Lucy tried her best to keep smiling, for the sake of her siblings. But it was hard. The beauty of Narnia was etched in her mind. The grey and gloomy streets of London seemed to pale in comparison with Narnia's rich and vibrant forests. Only the thought of going back to Narnia someday consoled her.
To a normal outsider, the way Pevensie children behave, like adults, might seem strange. It might seem strange, the way they understood an issue that other children their age never will. It might even seem strange to their parents. But is it strange to them? No, it never was, and it never will be. After all, they were mature adults who were trapped in bodies of normal children.
Reviews are LOVED! :)
