Chapter 1

I want to apologize for not uploading in so long. There is no excuse. I am wanting to get back into, so I hope that all of you can give me another chance. It would mean the world to me. My writing has hopefully improved these last few years. I am rewriting the chapters, so there may be new things occurring. I hope that everything flows together way better than before. I love you all!

I was standing in the church when the next words out of his mouth shattered my heart into pieces. "Love fades Mine has" Dimitri said. My mouth fell open, and I couldn't believe he had just said that.

Something in his face changed as if he knew how much he hurt me, but I wasn't going to stay and find out. I ran out before the whole church could see me cry. I ran until I was in front of my door. I slowly opened it and walked over to my bed. I then plopped down face first and cried all night. I cried for everything that has happened these last few days.

When I woke up it was 12:00 in the morning. I was so sore and my eyes hurt like hell, but I forced myself up to go look at myself in the mirror. My hair was a mess and my eyes were blood shot. I had bags under my eyes, and I had tear streaks on my face.

"Well Rose just look at yourself. You look like utter crap."

I still felt like crying my eyes out. I love him so much, but he made it painfully obvious that he doesn't feel the same way. I never imagined that this would happen. I thought that he would be so happy to see me, but I was wrong.

"Come on Rose you can do it," I told myself. I took a nice hot shower. After my shower, I put on a black sweater, and navy blue jeans. I then prepared myself to visit Adrian. I knew it would break his heart, but I couldn't stand the thought of being with anyone else. Dimitri was the only one that I wanted.

It felt like forever before I reached his door. When I finally made it, I took a deep breath and knocked. I heard shuffling on the other side. The door finally opened, and revealed his tired face. He looked absolutely exhausted. He was happy at first, but my face gave it all away.

"What's wrong," said Adrian as he pulled me into his apartment.

"Dimitri," I said trying not to cry. Adrian's face turned angry.

"What did he do to you?" Adrian said trying to control his temper.

"Nothing truly bad, he just made me realize he doesn't love me anymore" I sobbed. Adrian's face was happy but then it turned back to worry. "Did you come here to tell me that, or do you have something else that I need to know," he whispered.

I looked away and took a deep breath. When I looked back at him, I could feel tears flow out of my eyes and down my face. "Adrian I love you and I tried to have a relationship with you, but I can't. It's too hard and I can't find it in myself to move on just yet. I know I told when I got back from finding Dimitri I would try, and I have tried. It's just that you're too much of a friend to try anything I am soooo sor-"was all I said before he yelled, "You're not sorry I was just your boy toy until you realized that Belikov didn't want you so it wouldn't be fun anymore!"

"Adrian please-"he pulled open the door "No Hathaway I don't want to hear it now get the hell out!"

I stayed put and stared at him. I could see how much pain I was putting him through. All I ever do is hurt people! I ran out crying. I needed to see Lissa. She always understood me no matter what I was going through she was there for me.

I tried getting in her head, but I felt like I was hitting a brick wall. I managed to push through it enough to have a general idea on her location. I ran to the café as fast as I could and ran smack into Lissa's back. She turned around and her eyes went from shock to worry.

"What happened Rose?!" She grabbed my shoulders.

I couldn't hear that well because all my attention was on the man she was talking to. I was so shocked to see him. I swore he looked concerned for a second, but it vanished right away.

"I …uh...need to talk to you alone" I stuttered.

"Ok" she followed me to the edge of court right next to the forest. I could hear someone following us and then I spotted a shadow hiding behind a statue not far from us. I didn't have time to focus on it before she spoke.

"What's wrong Rose?" Lissa asked worry in her eyes.

"Dimitri he…he said something that hurt me pretty bad." I whispered.

"What did he say" she nervously glanced at the statue and then looked back at me. I knew the person following us had to be him, but that was the least of my worries.

"He told me that his love for me has faded…. Lissa those words hurt me so bad and then I went to break up with Adrian because we aren't meant to be together if my heart and soul belong to someone else..." I paused tears running down my face, "He hates me. He didn't say it, but I can see it in his eyes and it hurts so bad. I'm losing everyone I love!" I broke down crying.

Lissa pulled me into her arms "Not everyone Rose. You still have me and Christian and even Eddie and Mia."

Then she stepped back with a sad look " But Rose please just leave Dimitri alone. He's hurting bad right now ok," that pissed me off so bad. I could not believe what I was hearing. It's like my feelings don't even exist!

"Ok and I'm not hurting? Look at everything that I have done for him, and he still treats me like shit! You are my best friend, and you can't even support me! What is wrong with you?" I raised my voice at her. "It's like I don't have a best friend anymore," I whispered.

"Rose I am your best friend but he needs someone too. I'm sooo sorry Ro-" I held my hand up.

I took a deep breath. I let the tears roll down my face and soak my shirt. "Lissa, I don't think I can do this anymore. I hope you remember that I will always love you." I saw the confusion on her face, but I ran before she could say anything. I ran until I made it over the wards. Once I made it over, I stopped and turned to face my best friend.

Lissa was screaming my name, but I didn't pay attention to her. My focus was on the man standing behind her. They were only five feet away from me. All of a sudden I heard rustling behind me.

"Rose! Watch out," screamed Lissa.

I turned around and saw the monster that haunts my dreams. A tall and young looking strigoi stood in front of me. He had short black hair that stuck out in all directions. All of a sudden I got a stupid idea. Hey, I'm Rose Hathaway. I always have stupid ideas. I looked back at Dimitri and Lissa, and they both had looks of pure panic on their face. I quickly turned back to the strigoi.

"You can take me, but don't kill me yet I have information that your boss might want to hear." He looked shocked, but then quickly grabbed me. He then took off with me in his arms.

I heard a scream, and I looked over his shoulder. I saw Lissa on the ground crying and Dimitri was chasing us. Unfortunately for Dimitri, the strigoi is way faster, and we were out of his sight in a flash. The next thing I knew; I was being thrown into the back of a van. I didn't even have a chance to say anything before I felt a sharp pain on the side of my head. Everything then went black.
