HERMIONE
Hogwarts looked different, Hermione thought as she got of the train and walked toward the carriages that would take her to the school grounds. She was the only one of the trio that was returning for her seventh and last year at Hogwarts. She wondered what it would be like to be at the castle without Ron and Harry but… it was only a year. Beside, they were both idiots for skipping their last year of school. She was happy that she'd be in the same year as Ginny, so she'd have at least one friend.
She smiled as she walked into the great hall and took a seat at the Gryffindor table. Her mouth started watering when she saw the selection of food on the table and started getting impatient for Professor McGonagall, to start her opening speech so she could eat.
"Welcome back to Hogwarts" The professor's birdlike voice sounded through the hall and every head turned toward her.
First years were sorted and staff was introduced. Hermione was pleasantly surprised when she saw that Professor Lupin had been reinstated as DADA professor.
As head girl Hermione lead the new students up to the Gryffindor common room. The came to the Fat Lady's portrait to find said lady singing… still.
"She really needs to realize that she sucks" Ginny said from behind Hermione, who tried to hid a grin.
"The password to get in is beati bellicosi" When she said the phrase the portrait swung open and the Gryffindor students started flooding into the common room and running to the dorms to pick a bed. Hermione smiled and resisted tears as she realised that things were finally back to normal.
REMUS
It was strange to be back at Hogwarts… teaching, Remus thought as he walked through the Hogwarts halls toward his quarters. After what happened in Harry's third year Remus didn't think that Minerva would even consider him for the position of DADA teacher for fear of the students' parents' backlash.
But, about a month ago, McGonagall had come looking for him at Grimmauld place and she offered him the job himself. And he was glad to accept. His first class tomorrow was second years, nothing to tough. He just wanted to give them a bit of a pretest to see where they were in comparison to the DADA standards. Of course, their education had been heavily impacted by the war and Remus realized that he'd have to start out slow.
Then, in the afternoon, he had seventh year Gryffindor and Slytherin. Remus had been shocked when he saw Hermione sitting at the Gryffindor table, she hadn't expected her to come back to Hogwarts this year. Still, he admired the girl's maturity and willingness to learn.
He unlocked the door to his rooms and went in. He shrugged of his robes and changed into a white shirt and a pare of loose black sweatpants. He crashed into bed and fell asleep almost immediately.
HERMIONE
It was good to be back Hermione though as she changed out of her uniform and into a loose fitting blue shirt, and cotton shorts.
"Hermione! We're playing poker up in the common room. Do you want to join?" Ginny asked, pocking her head into Hermione's and her room.
"I'm sorry Gin. But I think I want to get a good night's rest before my classes tomorrow" Hermione explained, Ginny snorted (not in an unkind way) and closed the door.
Hermione climbed under the covers and fell asleep.
