I own nothing. Disney owns everything
In a dark realm the former witch doctor Facilier was attempting to bargain for his soul. Or, at least his shadow was. The shade had put itself between the trembling wreck that was its master and the other shadows. The shadows snarled at their linked brother. Facilier's shadow faltered but didn't relent. It had to protect its master. Finally a large shadow exited the dark mass. It had a vaguely draconic shape and two glowing orbs for eyes, the only points of light in the dark realm.
"Well," it said in a high pitched snarl. "If that is your wish," it clawed at the ground and opened a portal, "I will set your master free." A cruel smile crossed the shadows features. "But you shall be separated from The Darkness, forever." Facilier's shadow froze, its body language expressing shock. It shook its head rapidly. The draconic shadow grinned wickedly.
"Then perhaps you do not care what happens to your master." It and the other shadows chuckled wickedly. "You can either choose him or us." Facilier's shadow looked from its master to its fellows. Its shoulders slumped in defeat.
Facilier was thrown out of the mask's mouth. He rolled onto the cemetery ground in a mangled heap. He laid on the ground trembling, his hair a bigger wreck than it was before. Shadow glided over to where Facilier's hat was and picked it. He glided over to the stunned Voodoo man and put the hat down next to him. He tried to cuddle up next to his master but Facilier pulled away. He sat up and looked suspiciously at the living silhouette.
"Go away," he said. Shadow did as his master commanded and moved away from him. He put his hat on his head and summoned his cane, using it to get to his feet. He looked at his tombstone and destroyed it with his magic. He slumped to the ground, weakened.
Careful master, his shadow said as it glided over. You're still weak. This was said solely with the shadow's body language; Facilier knew his shadow was a mute.
"So have I been left with any magic," he asked his shadow. Shadow shook his head.
You can't go to the Other Side for help anymore, but you still have powers. He nuzzled against his master, saying I can help with harder spells. Facilier nodded and pet his shadow.
"Alright then," he said. "Maybe this ain't all bad. I'm alive after all." There wasn't a reply; Shadow had fallen asleep on his master's lap.
