Rey sat up in bed with a painful gasp, her head pounded painfully in her skull.
She had another dream, or nightmare, she couldn't tell, it was a sweet dream when she was having it but after she awoke it caused fear and pain.
She looked over at her sleeping husband, Poe would never tell her what he wanted, he wanted children. She saw it in his eyes. The way he looked at the other pilots' families. He wanted one so badly.
Unfortunately Rey was unable to bring him that. Her womb was barren, that's at least what the healers told her.
Poe was optimistic as usual.
"We'll go to an orphanage and adopt." He stated. Rey, against her own will, began to cry.
That's not what you want." She sobbed. It was true. As much as Poe loved the orphange's children he wanted a flesh and blood family of his own.
The dreams didn't help Rey's emotional state.
It was always a little girl, the oldest of their children, a little girl about five or six that was obviously Poe's child. Her dark curly locks swished around her chubby cheeks. She played with a doll, giggling at her younger brother, who was about four years of age.
He had Poe's dark eyes but Rey's lighter hair, he was dressed in a play x-wing suit, a wooden x-wing in his hand as he rushed around the house pretending to shoot down invisible sith lords and people that endangered his family.
The youngest, about one year old were twins in fact, one girl and one boy were in Poe's arms as he kissed their hair. The twins couldn't be as different, one the girl looked like Rey, green eyes, light brown hair, and the boy looked like Poe, dark eyes, dark hair.
Rey adored them all.
Until she woke up.
When she woke up from that dream it seemed to leave a bitter taste in her mouth.
She never told Poe about the dreams, what he didn't know wouldn't kill him.
She was staring at the sky when Poe sat beside her, now awake.
"I had a dream." He mumbled. Rey looked at him.
"We had children, two boys and two girls, the oldest one, a girl, looked just like-"
"You." Rey finished, Poe looked surprised but he nodded.
"I have that dream, every night." Rey stated. Poe wrapped his arms around her.
"It's not your fault you can't have children. I don't blame you."
Rey cried herself back to sleep in his sturdy arms.
Nearly two years later...
Rey held the squirming giggling bundle of joy in her arms.
Poe looked at his daughter a giant smile on his face.
The baby, who they appropriately named Miracle was staring at Rey with her big brown eyes, her mouth twisted in a half smile.
Rey couldn't be happier.
