The ground begins to move from under me, pushing me upwards. As I rise into whatever death awaits, my heart begins to pound, echoing inside my ears. The lights are gone now, but I am no longer rising. We are the arena, and it's pitch black. The arrival of other tributes is announced by the voices calling to each other.

"Dinami! Where are you!" That was Kota. District 6, calling to his partner. Wonderful people, never met before they were dragged here, but they still had a connection of home that made them a team opposed to just people trying to live as long as possible and they just choose to help eachother out. We had talked of an alliance, but they wouldn't take me. No one wants a twelve year old. Not even my own district partner. Even still, if anyone were to win I would hope it would be them.

"Where the hell are we!" Someone, male, screams roughly, violently. More yelling questioning. Then a bang, a shaking that rattled everything near me, the sound was horrific, ear shattering, ringing. Once the hearing returned the first thing anyone said was "someone stepped off,"

The fear that was once there has been replaced by sheer panic, I want to go home. Or just die. But I simply cannot just roll over and die.

Suddenly as we were thrusted into the dark, a blinding light turns on all around us. I face the ground and instantly regret it. Surrounding me is blood, and chunks of what I sincerely hope is rock. It covers the left side of my pant leg and when I turn my head to the left I see the real war zone. The tribute next to me is splattered head to toe, next to her. Nothing. A crater filled with shards of what was once a platform and more, I really do hope, rocks.

"Welcome," No,"to the forty sixth hunger games!" The voice booms, I quickly raise my head to asses for the first time where I am.

"We wish you all the best of luck," No not now, I need to find him. "and a happy hunger games."

I look around desperately now ignoring the terrain to find my partner.

"Let the games begin."

A clock is displayed, counting down the seconds towards our end, 10. I can't see him, 9. The cornucopia must be blocking him,8. There is one big pack, black, two yards away, 7. Grab and go then find him, 6. I move my feet into the proper technical stance, 5. I ignore the fact that everyone around me is waiting to pick up and knife and pierce my skull, 4. Mom, Dad, Kenna, I will always love you, 3. This is happening, this is real, 2. My name is Wiress Copernit, 1. And I am about to die. The bell rings.
