So I needed a relaxing project to keep me going this summer, and this will be it. Ah, drabbles.

The idea for this was, How can a perfectly normal person become powerful without spending years training? I don't like that most OC's either come with a backstory that their childhood got them to what's really beyond a professional level of fighting, or that they train their butt off for a month and somehow can fight competently.

Therefore, my character is pretty useless. She's smart, but not unrealistically so. She can't fight or even do parkour. Really, she doesn't have any "handy" life skills at all. Not even computer skills.

Picture is aptly titled "Justice League" and belongs to J-Rayner, on Deviantart.

So, we come to the story, where our main character has already finished wandering the countryside in a winter rainstorm, already had a major panic attack because her phone won't work, and has just finishing eating supper at the house of the very first two humans she's finally seen:

(And yes, I skipped all that because 90% of readers hate it.)

"I didn't think—" she started.

"Exactly," said the wife of the couple, a softly graying women whose stern expression offset her sympathetic eyes. "You can't just show up at our house and expect to leave without at least staying the night."

"Only the night," the husband said, blue eyes twinkling with ready humor. "Louise gets attached to strays if they stay too long."

"Oh, you," snapped his wife half-heartedly. She bit her lip. "But you'd better stay for breakfast and a cuppa. Lord knows this weather can kill a bear before it gets a mile."

The husband smiled. "And now we're to the bears. Let me show you to the guest room, honey."

Well, she supposed one night couldn't hurt.

Drabbles are expected to last between 100 and 200 words. This story is going to be kind of insert-yourself, so I value suggestions and input. But really, let's just all be in this to have fun.
