2018 - ? Long Term Project .
Delta Pioneers
After irreparable damage to Voyager on their last encounter with the Vidians, the crew are forced to establish a permanent colony on New Earth. These are their adventures...
Over to you my faithful readers. The concept would be for a potentially quite long series of stories based around the concept of a permanent New Earth colony.
The story would follow canon up to the end of "Resolutions" where Voyager would return with the anti-viral serum obtained from Dr. Denara Pel but Voyager would have been damaged beyond repair during the encounter. With insufficient resources to replace all the components needed to get her space worthy once again, Captain Janeway takes the second pivotal decision of her command. To abandon any further attempt to head home and instead start a Federation colony here in the Delta Quadrant.
There would then follow a series of stories about establishing a colony and eventually an orbital space station and defence platform. The aliens and anomalies would have to come to them, but this concept worked very well with Deep Space 9 and I feel I could adapt the Voyager concept to follow along similar lines.
Before I begin on this not inconsiderable undertaking, I would love to know your thoughts : -
Does this idea appeal as a concept or does it go off at too much of a tangent to interest Voyager fans?
I have chosen late season 2 to establish the colony (simply because 'Resolutions' already provides a handy planet and canon backstory to gel the command team together). But do you agree or would this concept work better at an earlier/later point along the canon timeline?
Should I incorporate characters from further downstream eg. have the Equinox arrive in orbit or crash land to introduce later canon characters or limit myself to those I have in canon at that time?
I admit the possibilities intrigue me and Jamelia 116's series focussing on the perceptions and adventures of Icheb worked superbly (read 'Destiny' if you have not already done so. It truly is an excellent epic). However, that did stick to canon and then extrapolate post 'Endgame'. This would be effectively AU after season 2.
Please share your thoughts through the review facility and - if popular enough - I'll go ahead and draft the first chapter / adventure.
Many thanks and happy reading,
your fan fiction friend,
