1. Prologue

Bruce Wayne ended the Scarecrow's reign of terror over Gotham, but that came at a hell of a lot of bloodshed.

I was there. I witnessed Jason shoot the gun out of Scarecrow's hand. I saw Bruce and Jim defeat Crane. I saw it all.

After Bruce activated the Knightfall Protocol, everyone thought he was dead - to be honest, so did I. Azrael took on the job, while Barbara and I started to settle down.

But when Crane decided to reunite with Riddler, Two-Face, Penguin, Firefly and Deathstroke, Bruce came out of hiding and Batman was reborn.
