Disclaimer: Hey Guys! It's been a while since I've been on the scene! How's everyone doing? Decided to get back into the 'Hey Arnold!' Fan-fiction world after reading the story 'Because the Heart Never Lies'. Go find it and read it. It's a long story, but it's a great one! Inspired me to write this fiction. =3
As always, Craig Bartlett and Nickelodeon own all Hey Arnold! Characters. All other characters belong to me. Any events relating to the story are not real. Anything that seems to resemble any of the story typed is just a coincidence.
Enjoy!
Interlude
He opened his eyes slowly, adjusting to the dimly lighted room. It wasn't all that bright, but it still caught him off guard. He tried to let his eyes adjust to the his surrounding as the back of his head throbbed, causing him to flinch. He could fell a little trickle down his neck from the most painful spot from the back of his head.
He could only guess it was blood.
After his eyes adjusted, he looked around. He was in… a cave? A few string lights were hanging around the top part of the room, making it somewhat easier to see through the dimly light room.
He looked across from him to see a girl. She had he head slumped over, and her hair was a bit messy, but still flowed beautifully down the left side of her shoulder is a nice curl, just past her shoulders. She was wearing a light turquoise dress that had flowed down past her feet. She was obviously dressed for a special occasion. She was seated in a wooden chair, her hands behind her back, as if they were tied behind her back.
"Chiara?" Arnold asked softly, still coming to. No response. He finally snapped up and was completely aware of what was going on. "Chiara!" He struggled to get up, but realized that his hands were tied behind his back as well. He felt a hard rope, that squeezed his wrist together.
He started having difficulty breathing. There was not a lot of oxygen in here. He looked over at Chiara again. He didn't see her breathing. He panicked. He watched her chest, hoping it would rise, to indicate she was still breathing. "Please…" he whispered. He watched as her chest rose slowly, and went back down. Arnold eased up his tension and gave a sigh of relief.
Wherever they were, they needed to get out. Arnold knew that if they stay here any longer, they weren't going to make it.
Suddenly, he felt something cold and wet brush up against his ankles, soaking the bottom of the tux he was wearing. He looked down, horrified. It was water. Arnold panicked again. Where were they?
"Chiara!" Arnold yelled to the unconscious girl. There was still no movement. Arnold sat back, defeated in his efforts.
How did they get here? What happened? This was supposed to be a fun night, hanging out with their friends at the Prom… He looked at Chiara, with a hopeless look. "I'll find a way out…" he said softly to her. "I promised you, right? That I would keep you safe..." he trailed off into thought.
Author's Note: Okay, working on the next chapter. Hope you guys enjoyed so far. =3
