The stars that shone over Zanarkand twinkled as if they were playing to an invisible score, glittering more than the others around them, then suddenly falling silent for the other stars to bathe the city in their light. The sound of the crowd washed over the city, falling upon the ears of a figure that stood on a metal perch that overlooked the ocean, the pale moon light falling through the gentle ripples of the water.
The figure could sense a change to the still air around him. Shifting the arm that crossed his chest, he glanced down to the city, scanning the empty streets for any movement. The only sight to welcome his only working eye were pools of light from the scattered lodgings lining the waterfront. As he moved his head to where most of the light emanated from, the large stadium that was located in the middle of the metropolis, the city that 'never slept.' The sound of the sport known as Blitzball being played, the people of Zanarkand cheering for their favourite played, and by what sounded like the entire city had gathered in the stadium.
Allowing the corner of his face to curl into a small smile, his hand went to the jug that was attached to his side, then turned back to face the ocean. With the jug up in what looked like a toast to the oncoming wave, he took a swig from the round jug before returning it back where he kept it as a number of glowing pieces of energy came from within the water's depths, hitting a few buildings with a deafening racket . He knew this was the beginning of the story, what he had been waiting to happen for 10 years.
A few more blasts came from the overbearing wave till the water came rushing down its sides, unveiling the true form called Sin, causing panic as the crowd dispersed from the entrance of the stadium. Auron calmly walked through the scattering people as they returned to their homes, his heavy boots kicked up water from Sin's form as it moved deeper into the city, unleashing a regular barrage on the bulidings of Zanarkand. This was the beginning of the end for his story.
