Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson, Rick Riordan does.
It was just supposed to be a simple free throw. One and done. Percy didn't expect him to be on the basketball courts for a half an hour.
No matter what he did he could not get a basket. The ball either missed entirely or it spun off the rim.
There was no way Percy was going to give up. He didn't give up in Tartarus and he didn't give up when Gaea almost destroyed the world. Percy wasn't going to start now.
Five more throws, all misses. It was around noon now. The sun was hot and unforgiving. What he really needed now was a water bottle or a river (it didn't matter).
Everyone was going off to their afternoon activities or lunch. Some Apollo campers (Greek and Roman) came to play basketball but then quickly turned around upon seeing how frustrated Percy was. No one wanted to get in the middle of him and a task.
Percy should have been in the arena ten minutes ago. Annabeth was getting worried. She was always nervous Percy would disappear again but Hera 'promised' not to take Percy away anymore.
Annabeth never trusted Hera so she took the promise as a grain of salt.
Luckily Piper (who was visiting from Camp Jupiter) told Annabeth that he was playing basketball. Annabeth was going to judo flip Percy again for skipping out on teaching the younger kids how to fight.
Annabeth heard Percy before she saw him. She never knew Percy had such a colorful vocabulary.
This was what the hundredth attempt, Percy thought.
"Why won't the f***ing ball go in the f***ing hoop" Percy yelled. He was really getting frustrated now.
"Would you like some help." Said Annabeth coming up behind him.
"I don't think you could help me. It's a very complicated shot." He took another shot. This one went in the bushes. Percy grumbled as he went to retrieve it.
"If you don't want help, then I want to try." Annabeth wanted to know why the simple task was so hard that it was frustrating the Savior of Olympus.
"You probably won't make the hoop from this far away." Percy took another shot, missing again.
"I still want to try."
"Fine but I haven't made it yet myself so don't get disappointed if you don't make it." Percy took a step back, handing the ball to Annabeth.
Taking the ball, Annabeth studied the hoop and took a shot. It went in cleanly, no back board or rim.
Percy stood there with his mouth wide open
"How... what... how.." Percy couldn't believe it. It wasn't possible.
"It's just simple physics."Annabeth said, handing the ball back to Percy.
Hi everyone. I hoped you liked it. This was just something random I thought of when I was watching High School Musical. Thanks to any one that reviews/favorites/follows, it means a lot to me:)
