She leaned her head on his shoulder and sighed happily, "I love you."

And she didn't expect an 'I love you' back.

And he wasn't going to give her one.

She'd still love him. She would for a long time. Maybe forever.

It was incomprehensible.

She was smart, beautiful, graceful, and strong. She was amazing. She deserved someone who loved her.

But she chose him.

Or rather, someone chose them for each other. They could break it off though. They could separate and never see each other again

But she didn't want that. And, he didn't mind. He was just confused. Hundreds, maybe thousands, of men, willing to love her. She chose the one man who didn't.

"Why?" He asked, "Why love somebody who doesn't love you back? Why do you love me?"

She bit her lip, "Because I do." Was her simple reply.

"What?" He was so confused.

"You...you don't choose who you love. You just do. Mother, Father, Brother, and my friends all think I should break the engagement and find someone who loves me. But, I don't want to. I wanna be here with you. Always. And be it, you find someone else, I'll do my best to be happy for you. All I want is for you to be happy. Because I love you." She smiled at him.

"But...I...you want to love me?" He sputtered.

"No." She replied, and he was shocked, "I wish I didn't. I wish I loved someone who loved me just as much as I loved them, but I love you. I can't change that."

And they sat in silence for a minute before he spoke again, "Are you sure you can't love someone else? You're too good for...me."

"I'm positive, for the time being anyway. And I think, I'm not good enough for you."

"Never say that again!" He said forcefully.

So they were quiet, for some more minutes, then he spoke, "Elizabeth?"

"Yes, Ciel."

"I-I...I..." Was he going to say it? The very words she'd been waiting years to hear? "I'm glad you love me."

Meh, close enough.
