Chapter One: Science Project
One Friday, the kids had an early dismissal. When they got out at lunch, they went with Alex to pick up Ethan, who also had an early dismissal that day. They all went to a McDonalds for lunch, being treated by Daniel's dad. During the lunch, Alex told the others about a project he had to do.
"It's a science project we got that's due on Monday. We have to make a circuit and have to use at least 2 switches, 3 lights, and 2 batteries. Then we have to present it to the class and show how it works," he told them. "That's not very hard," Daniel commented. "Shut up, you son of a science teacher," Alex said as Daniel's dad went to get the food. They had found out that he was a science teacher at Reefside High school.
"I'm serious. If you have the stuff, then this will be easy," Daniel said. "Well, it might not be easy to get this thing to look good," Alex said. "Why do you want it to look good?" Ethan asked. "Freddy," Alex answered. "You want his to look better than yours?" Ethan figured out. "Yeah. It shouldn't be too hard, though, since he doesn't even know how to clip the wires onto the battery," Alex remembered.
Daniel's dad came to the table with the food. "You kids can go get your own drinks," he told them as he handed them each a medium cup. "I'll watch the food." The kids all got their own sodas and then came and sat down to eat lunch.
