The Capsule

The bug

In year 2027 mankind manages to creat advanture parks alike the Avatar movie. People are able to literally become their favorite game character and interact with each other. They need to lay down on so called gaming pads. with five electrode connected to their brain and their conscioussness gets transfered into the game enviroment called Capsule. The Evil Within capsule is one of the most visited ones. Some become Ruvik and Jimenez on the bad side, and of course the detectives and Leslie. The signals from electrodes embedded on players brain in the real world allows them to use weapons, and gain other features as long as they imagine them. As a result the higher imagination skills, the better fighting skills in the game world. There're yet three important rules to hold on to:

1)imaginations are to be according to the logic and game specific.

-Logic: Although possible, one can't ,for instance, imagine a gun and have them in their hands. They should imagine a gun laying somewhere and go get it as if they found it. There're a limited number of weapons one is allowed to imagine however.

-Game specific: one can't develop Kung fu abilities within TEW game. The imagined abilities are according to the game itself.

2)Ruvik character have special abilities as in games such as changing the enviroment and control others mind as long as they know where they are. This ability is not to abuse.

3) players are not allowed to reveal their real identities. Gender, age, profession and anything else remains hidden.

The players are also connected to life monitores and the entire capsule is supervised in full. Still the risks are there: The human brain itself can't differ between virtual and real world. strangling someone within the capsule could be done to some extent. From some point on however, the brain accepts that no oxigene is entering the body and tries to shut down the important organs. In the worst case, a healthy player dies from heart attack.

As a conslusion although the players have a higher persistence against violence, they are not fully protected.

That could be the reason why broken rules are critical and treated strictly. one false move and player gets thrown out of the game, a full disconnection, game over.

and it has been broken. For the most part there have been Ruvik(s) torturing the others to the point that player in real life had indeed physical problems.

It never came to something serious, until on of those Ruviks tried to beat a Joseph Oda to death, he has been disconnected and abandoned from all Game Capsules. The family of the 19 year old girl playing as Joseph accused the player later on after seeing bruises around her neck. During investigation, other illegal issues from the player were revealed. All IT security related. Some were heavy . At that time 22 year old player was sentenced to five years in prison.

5 years later, at the same day the player was thrown out, a bug appears in one of main motherboards running the TEW Capsule peripherie. It was taken as a harmless virus at first . After all no software demages were reported. All the bug did was displaying a black screen with red writing 'I have something to finish' .
