Mistake or Fate?
April makes a shocking discovery after her and Jackson's second "encounter." How will they deal with it?
April sat on her bed, inside her room with the door locked. The three tests were spread out in front of her, all positive. Tears of shame rolled from her eyes and plopped onto her trembling hands.
"This can't be happening," she thought. "These can't be working right." She tossed the tests into a wastebasket. "Just don't think about it." she told herself. "But I have to. I could really be…no, it's not true. We had protection that night and the next day. Right?"
April couldn't recall having brought one, because she didn't expect to do it a second time with him. Nonetheless, in a handicapped stall in the hotel's men's room!
"April?" A loud knock came from her door. Jackson! She ran from her bed and into her closet to dress. Jackson knocked again. "Are you still asleep?" "I'll be out in a minute!" she called. What was she supposed to say? Should she even tell him yet?
"Easy, Kepner, you don't know for certain," she reminded herself. "I'll just get a test at the hospital. But how do I keep everyone from finding out?"
After she was dressed, she went downstairs to the kitchen and saw Jackson sitting a the counter eating. "I'm going out today," she said nervously. "I'll probably not be home for awhile."
"Great idea," Jackson agreed. "You could try looking for a new job." "Sure, yeah." April grabbed her car keys and headed for the front door. "I may already have a new job," she muttered. "Being a mother."
